Posted for my rabid soccer fan friends who tell me that racing is "not a sport".

I go on 3-5 mile runs 3 times a week. I lift weights at the gym for an hour on another 3 days. I occasionally ride my bike around the urban jungle for a dozen or so miles.

I played 2 minutes of arena soccer last week, and I felt like I got punched in the stomach and my legs had been beat with a 2 x 4.

So yeah, sport.

I'm under the impression that racing is the only sport, everything else is just a game.  The Nascar commercial phrase rings true in my book :vert:

An activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others makes it sport in my book..

bull

Pro soccer is a sport but the post-game riots are much more interesting. Watching a bunch of skinnies run around for 3 hours with only one goal scored between them to show for it is akin to watching an ant hill, without the benefit of a magnifying glass.

JB400

Rugby is much more interesting to watch than soccer.  But, I can find something more entertaining to watch then both of them combined. :drool5:

Fred

Have you ever seen bull ants play soccer with sultana grapes? Now that's called entertainment!

Used to be into Rugby as a national game but left it years ago when the professional era was ushered in here, just thugby with prima donnas and gets too much airtime compared to other sports and yes motor racing as well

If you want to see an off the wall rugby type ball sport, AFL from our Australian cousins, based on Gaelic football and see how they hit the ball and what the two linesman do when it goes over the line. Hard out and Hilarious

Ice Hockey still doesn't tolerate any bullshit.  Never has.  Cheap shot = ass beating.

And the Gladiators thought they had it tough.

Are the American Gladiators still on?  I know they made a comeback a few years ago, but that seemed shortlived.  I enjoyed watching it when I was younger.

Fred

Younger? I thought you still are.
I'm talking about the Gladiators of Roman times.

I am young, but could be younger.  Actually, the Roman gladiators did have it rough.  Thier life expectency was not very long.  There was a few that were good enough to buy their freedom and live into their elder years, but not very many.
