I have been thinking about doing an intake manifold swap and was wondering if you guys had any thoughts.  I have a 400 in my charger with a stock intake manifold # 2806301. Did a little research on the manifold and it's considered the best muscle car stock intake.  However, i can't find any specifications regarding it.  I was planning on installing an edlebrock performer RPM intake manifold, but I would like to know the specifications for the stock intake.  Yes, I know swapping it with the Edlebrock RPM would reduce some weight, but if the performance is going to be the same, why bother.  Any thoughts?

IMO, The stock manifold can't hold a candle to the Performer Intake as faras performance goes. Plus, the intake charge will be cooler if you block off the Exhaust crossover that goes through the middle of intake.

I agree with Cooter....Also ... IMO, That 400 is a low HP smog motor. If you want to wake it up, ADD : New Cam, Exhaust, Intake and carb.

Hey Guys,

Thanks for your input.  The 400 already has headers and flow masters, and 202 heads.  It's equipped with a Holley 750 double pumper and the cam is slightly larger than stock, but not large enough for me (484 lift and 239/240 duration).  It also has a 2700 rpm stall and My intentions are to swap the intake with a Edlebrock performer RPM intake and install a Lunatti Voodoo Cam 234*/242* .513*/.533*.  supposedly, the gear in the rear has been changed.  I believe it has because my speedometer is off.  However, if i heard him right, he said it was a 3:73.  I need to check that because I thought that was a chevy gear, but it could just be an odd aftermarket one.  Let me know what you think of this configuration.  Always looking for thoughts and opinions.  Oh, and that emissions crap has all been removed.

I'm afraid that cam may kill what little cylinder pressure you may have in that smog 400. You don'thave enough bottom end to play too hard yet.

Sounds like it's time for a rebuild with some pistons that aren't .080 down in the bores.
