So, Yesterday we geta phone call about Checking out a car that customer found on Craig's list. No problem, would rather you check it out before you get screwed. Ok, so they have to set the Check over (Which takes anywhere from 1/2 hour to 1 hour depending on how bigga POS the car is), for CLOSING time(5:30 PM). Dammit. Ok, no problem, I'll get-r-done. 5:30 PM rolls around, no chick with car. 6:00 PM she shows up in freakin' cab, with her "Friend" who looks like he fell face first into a tackle box. No car. I ask "Where's the car you wanted checked out"? She replies: "He's on his way. He got lost. Can you talk to him on the phone real quick??"

No problem.."Hello? Sir? Yes, where are you coming from?"
Reply: "Charlottesville."
"Where are you now?"
"I just passed a Sheets station".
"Which Sheets Sir?"
"I don't know. it's next to a stop light"
"ok.......Do you have a GPS?"
"Uh, Yeah."
"ok....So type in [Address] and you should be here in a few right?"
"Uh...Ok"..
7:00 PM rolls around and no guy with car. I ask are you sure he's on his way? She replies "Yeah, he got lost again".....
FINALLY, he rolls up in a POS Audi that sounds like the engine is grinding rocks in it. We check it out and it's a turd. We tell the chick she doesn't want this POS as repairs are crazy money. She agrees, but not before telling me she's from another country originally and that's all they drive over there. She thought it was so beautiful. I reminded her to leave it where it is. Get something that will last her through college.
She shows up today driving that POS Audi, wanting to know what the engine noise is........

This type of thinking really causses me concern for the future of the country.
How can a college kid who exclaims how broke they are, afford to be this stupid??? More book smarts than common sense I guess....

I guess....It kills me how you try and try to protect people from themselves, and they STILL put the pecker in their own asses. Then, want to turn around and scream bloody murder when it costs more than they paid for the car to repair it. Gee, wonder why the other guy got rid of it again?

Dumb blonde joke? :smilielol:  Actually, this is an example of DBS  otherwise known as Dumb Blonde syndrome.  Blondes aren't dumb, they just have a disease.  It's highly contagious and affects all hair colors.  It has been linked to the X chromosome.  There is no known cure.

I agree the president was a moron to pick this country.  The previous owners were the smart ones - buy one in good condition, run it for all it's worth, and pass it on to the next guy when the clunking noises start.

I cringed just reading it.."No good deed goes unpunished" seems to apply here. Sadly as more time passes we will surely see a very real and scary future, that is the result of people like this.

I can relate. In mid-'86 my old man nearly kicked my axe up one side and down the other when he found out I paid $400 for the pile of parts and rotten shell of a '69 Charger that just appeared in our driveway one otherwise perfectly fine Saturday morning.

Yup. The dumb quotient is pretty steady. Roughly 50% of population is always dumb enough to vote for the winner every 4 years. The other 50% intelligent losers are always adept at pointing this out.

I didn't watch the Address, but now he wants to give everyone a raise.  Guess what that will do to the price of everything.  What a moron.  We don't need the gov. mandating that high of a raise.  He wants to move it up to $9/hr.  I see even more people on food stamps if this does happen.

Just got back from the store.  Some African American group put out a magazine about our celebrity and on the cover it said "Forever changing America's future".   :icon_smile_blackeye:  These idiots wanted change, they sure as heck got it.  How many of them will have any change left?  For anybody that will fall for a fake smile and gibberish speeches, probably doesn't have much cents anyway.  There was this one couple my age looking at tools.  The gal asked a question.  He replied that it was too complicated for a woman to understand.  Probably true, but still, how smart could he be looking at tools at Wal Mart?  I was reading car magazines if you must know. :icon_smile_big:  The future doesn't look too bright for my gen. :brickwall: :P

 :scratchchin:

1. Red states benefit the most from food assistance programs.
2. Children, who could give a crap about politics, and who don't put themselves in poverty, are the primary beneficiaries of food assistance programs.
3. A raise to $9/hr still keeps even single person household in the qualifying range for food assistance.

The rise in food assistance is a symptom, not the problem. We have wayyyy bigger problems..... Like young punks with lotsa crap in their faces buying junk cars. I mean, who's gonna buy my garbage if they wise up?

Back on topic...... :D

Hadda nuther one come in just yeasterday. College kid (Liberty U here..Jerry Falwells kids), pops bought him a 2006 Mustang V6 car.
( I went off to college in a busted, worn out, dragged up 1965 Plymouth Satellite. Woulda KLILLEd for a brand new 1990 Mustang GT)) Came in the lot with steam rolling out from under the hood. Kid said "Oh yeah, the heat ain't been working for weeks, and the steam has been coming out for over a week now. I asked my dad what he thought it could be and he told me just put some oil in it. What do you think? Why is it steaming?"

2 gallons of coolant, and a T-stat housing (Plastic?!?!) from Ford and he's back inthe road. I can't believe that engine lasted. NO coolant in it at ALL.

If his old man is that stupid, how can we expect anything less from him? NOBODY teaches basic car care to their kids these days. Then, want to raise holy hell when their bill is outragious. Just FYI here, but that 4.0 V6 is basically the same STUPID design that was in the Ford Exploder with 5 T-chains. One in the REAR of the Pass. head. Called for over 20 Hours to put head gaskets on it. only called for 14 hours to put an engine in it.
" I have spent thousands of dollars and countless hours researching what works and what doesn't and I'm willing to share"

Lord Warlock

If morons can get paid 9.00 an hour minimum, what is the point in going to college? even with a degree i was only earning 11.00 an hour throughout the 90s.  Pisses me off to see kids with no skills get paid 4x what i got paid for crap no skill jobs.  The president just knows if he can buy off the masses of low incomes, he can get more democrats elected in the future, sad to say how stupid the electorate has become in the last 20 years, used to be that you had to be able to read the ballot if you wanted to vote, now we have to print it out in 4 different languages just to be fair.  sucks.

My daughter, who is off at college at the moment, had a freeze plug pop out on her v6 chevy s10 pickup, and ran it dry for several miles before taking it to her boyfriend to look at (he works at an auto parts store), they tried putting water in the radiator, but it kept steaming and leaking water, my dad finally drove over and took a look at it and found the freeze plug was out and told them not to run the car anymore till it was fixed.  Strangely, the v6 in  that truck seems indestructible, its still runs great, no warped head gaskets or anything after running it dry.  (she still prefers her old truck over a 2006 nissan altima we offered her)

That second one sounds a lot like my brother in his college days.  He'd call home and tell me his car quit or the red lights were lit- I'd haul some oil, tranny fluid, coolant, whatever, top everthing off and he'd be on his way.  Not that he was dumb, but he didn't look at a car the same way I did.  He was more interested in women and beer, and the car was a way to get both!
He has improved, he moved to VA back in the mid 80's and acts all respectable now.  I keep telling him it's too bad I still remember all the chit he did!

Tis true I will never want to work, but only if these types actually PAID for the work the cars need. ALL of them want to scream bloody murder, and can't understand it when their little pos needs more invested in repairs than they paid for it. THIS is what I'm referring to here. IF you don't have the money for a project, WTF would you buy one? Almost ALL of them are junk and the owners shot their whole wad buying it.

Actually, an continuation along the same lines.....

I will never understand the fascination with "4-wheelin'...Even being a big 'ol redneck myself...

Here we go. Jeep Wrangler comes in, kid says "I was just riding along and my Jeep just cut off"..."ok"...I go out to start it and there's one helluva rattle coming from inside the engine. Dude says "What do you think it is"? I state that i think he blew it up.
After about two weeks of waiting for the kids GRANDMOTHER who is about 90 years old, to pay for this punk kids new engine, he finally admits he buried it "Wheelin"...There was muddy water floating inside the air box. Number 4 piston came apart from being hydraulic'ed, causing the rod to bounce around inside the cylinder. Radiator was PACKED with dried mud. Kid claims he "cleaned it out"...Yeah, right.....

I will never understand this. Don't these people realise that all that muddy water/mud gets past the grease seals in the diffs? Transmission? Transfer? Engine? Nobody cleans this out after all that wheelin'. they even ride around with the "trophy" mud on it for days!?!? WTF?

Yes it is, I can't argue with that.  Makes for good stories on dc.com though!   :icon_smile_big:

I used to see people like that in autobody all the time.  Come to think of it, I see that even in health care.

Had a patient not too long ago, made him a brace to correct the position of his ankle.  When he came back for follow up I asked him how the brace worked.  He said it was great whenever he had it on...so I asked him how much he wears it and he tells me about 2-3 hours a day, most days of the week.  I told him that he should be wearing it all the time except for sleeping.  His reply: do you think that would make my ankle better?  No I made the damn thing so you could put it behind glass and look at it....  :brickwall:

Along these same lines....Wifey just got home from yet another tiring/draining day at work. Retail has got to be about the worst run business on the planet.

I will never understand upper management. It all started about 1 year ago. Wifey was lucky to even get a job with 4 discs and one knee blown out. But, she was still willing to work and work hard. She puts in anywhere from 50-90 Hrs/week at Her store. She took her store from On the Matrix @ #20 DEAD LAST, to #3 in the district. Working herself to death in the process. Someone calls in, she covered all by herself. In a high volume store, that's ALOT to take on.
She did this for about 1 year. She finally asked for a simple Raise, as she was offered another job. She stated she would stay if they would at least either 1. Match pay, 2. Give her a larger back room so she didn't have to handle the merch. 5 times moving it, or 3. Up her alotted hours to get all they expected done.

Well, her district manager knew full and well what she was worth, yet goes to bat for her with her Regional manager who is a biggoted, racist, POS that thinks all women should be at home, or making at least 1/2 pay of male counterparts. He refused to even budge 1 inch. So, she left to "Explore other oppertunities".

Fast forward three months. Other job hasn't called yet, so she was offered yet another store. She had to accept as she wasn't working. She was "Demoted" to Asst. Manager of this store. She comes home today talking bout how her manager is all but working against her when she tries to help the store's numbers by getting it organised. Her other store she left from went from #3 all the way down to #20. DEAD LAST again.  I can't understand why some management can't see the writing on the wall. I mean, I had it all figured out, she had it figured out, her district manager had it figured out, why couldn't that Pig of a Regional manager figure out that if she left that store, it was gonna end up dead last yet again? It went from being a $4 million/year store where Customers were happy to shop at, to a store where there's at least 5 complaints/week how customers can't get down the isles. Now the store has lost all the profit is was making hwen she left.

One would think that if a simple coutry boy can see the writing on the wall, upper managemnet that clearly went to college for this sh*t could see it. Yet, they act like they have blinders on. Is this the future of this country? Are we left to complete Morons in upper management? I mean, I ain't got no high falootin' Degrees that say I know anything bout business, but I know enough that when you have a worker that has invested MANY long hours into YOUR business, you Make arrangements to keep them. Not outragious demands, but "Arrangements". Accomidations if you will. Yet, the same ol stonewalling goes on.

I wonder if the little increase in pay was worth the extra $2 million/year they lost in sales?
I simply don't get it.
