Hi

What are your thoughts about the 3 x Birds that went under the hammer at Mecum Kissimmee, a few weeks ago.
Especially the 2 x 6 pack, 4 speed birds, I thought they were "low"?

$157K  6pack, 4 speed, Toro Red,
$150K  no sale, 6 pack, 4 speed, blue
$91K    Bucket, console, 440, yellow

Mind you, I see a restored 1968 GT500 Shelby sold for $91K!  :rotz:

NEW ZEALAND (aka Paradise)
1973 De Tomaso Pantera GTS widebody
1970 Superbird, 6pack, 4 speed, Tor-Red, Buckets, restored by Julius
1970 428 Cobra Jet, 4 speed, calypso Coral, white shaker
1970 Boss 429 KK2457, Concours, Calypso Coral (SOLD)
1957 Chevy truck, big rear window, ocean green, STOCK!.....nice!

Personally, I think the first two went for a very good price, from what I have seen,  6 pack, matching number and 4 spd, is always the right combo.  The yellow one, showed have gone higher, but guess that combo was our of favor with those buyers at the time.  The only Shelby Gt500 I see was a clone convertible that sold for 55K, what was the lot number on the one you mentioned, my was T28.  The Tasca Mustang sold for 200K, that's money!

Alas, no Daytonas!
too many to list!

Usually, but not always, auctions are at the upper end of pricing.  If you thought they were cheap, they'd likely go for even less in the real world, between guys on this forum, for example.
:Twocents:
I've never owned anything but a MoPar. Can you say that?

Shelby GT500 was F303, $91K

I wish I still had my Boss 429 as the sale prices were $175K to $415K, average price $280K. Oh well, only one person to blame there......ME!

I must admit I was expecting the two 6 pack 4 speed birds to sell for more (up to $200K). Besides the HEMI, these are two highly optioned birds, even then most HEMI's seem to be bench seat, column auto cars, and personally I would prefer a 6 pack, 4 speed bird, in the right colour, than a HEMI, auto, bench bird, but thats just me.

Yeah, seen it, guess cause it was modified, it lost value, would have expected in to sell for more, bidders must be purists.

In the case of the Superbird 440-6 vs Hemi, what if the Hemi Superbird had a buckets, 4 spd and Super Trak Pak :drool5:

Yes, the ultimate, but they are a rarety? I am sure they are out there, but most seem to be "poverty" packs (except for HEMI engine of course).
Didn't a non-HEMI bird sell at auction for $300K? recently? was it white?

Whats with the 1970 Roadrunner 440/6 convertible selling for $195K? compared with the Superbird prices, I would have thought a Superbird would bring more money?
I guess I still need to learn a lot about these MOPAR's.

A34 super trac pak wasn't an option on the Superbird, but I like the idea  :2thumbs:

The yellow 4 bbl car was more of an amateur restoration compared to the two 6 pack cars.    That is one reason why it sold for so much less.

I thought the EK2 for $157K was a good money for the market.
The blue one I knew wouldn't reach reserve as last asking price I saw for that car was $275K.
Nice combo though, I'd take it..  :icon_smile_big:

Not many 70 Road Runner Converts with the sixpack set up ,so that's why the high price along with one year only desirable body style.

i was in love with the six barrel convert   :drool5: :drool5: :drool5:
GO SELL CRAZY SOMEWHERE ELSE WE ARE ALL STOCKED UP HERE

WINGIN IT

Yeah, white interior convertibles are high up in my book !  :2thumbs:
Now if it was only blue... errrahhh I mean green....  :D

wingcarenvy

The auction prices are inflated. The Boss 429s are a good example. There is a 4k mile red Boss 429 for sale locally here at a dealer unrestored for 185K and the dealer told me he is motivated to sell.

Ghoste

Auction prices indicate if the overall market is good or bad but thats about it.
