 have experienced the "real deal" personally.  been clean(well for the most part) and sober for 15 years , shows like this glorify their  crap  don't show the death /injury and the effects on your family  ! not called1% for nothing, there the 1% no one wants to know .  would not touch anything to do with any of it with a 10' pole. looking to have your ass served to you on a plate by the "real " 1%

Groups like the Hells Angels are nothing more than punks and bullies who can't do anything without their so called "club" to back them up. My cousin took three and them down and put them in prison. All they could do about it was threaten his family by phone calls or throwing rocks through the front windows. Eventually they got tired of trying to bother someone who wasn't scared of their tactics and just gave up. My grandmother threw a group of them out of a bar she was managing. I have a distant family member who is in a club allied to the Hells Angels. I've met a couple in person at parties held by this distant family member and I'm not impressed. Personally the only good Hells Angel is one that is buried 6 feet below the top soil.

Now that being said... Sons of Anarchy is a good television program and I liked the first season the best because it DID try to show you the bad effects of being a 1%'er. Then they started glorifying it right up until they made sure Opie died brutally.

We have the Sons Of Silence club in town here. They have an old fire station as their club house. They been around here for many many years and I have never heard of them getting into trouble. No body F's with them and they dont F with anybody. They actually lay low around here. They do have a few big partys and get togethers a few times a year which puts hundreds of bikes around the block where they are. They are the group of people I dont worry about around here.........its the punk kid gangs or wannabe gangs that you got to keep an eye on.

I suspect there may be quite a few asshats who were brought to the light wearing a Samcro full patch. The series is sort of an amalgamation of the Hells Angels, Mongols and Sons of Hawaii life style. Current hardcore MC's are a far cry from the true "originals" who were vets returned home after WW2........lost - pissed and comfortable/safe only with other vets. Not just in the US either. Same same for my era. Remember all the guys living in the Hawaiian back country, Pacific Northwest not to mention the many who stayed in south east Asia? Guys just couldn't reintegrate themselves back into the world.

I worked on a car for a guy that was in the "Sons of silence" and I asked him about how close to reality the show was to the real thing and he said that I did not want to know, he said when he had beaten up by his own club in a bar to the point of not being able to walk, he said you constantly have to watch your back and that if he had the chance to do it all over he would have "thought the decision through"

I thought the first few seasons were amusing. This last season it seemed to become nothing more than how many people can get whacked in one hour. As mentioned above it just attempts to glorify a bunch of thugs that cannot hold a real job.
