I know a lot of people hate their "Enquirer" method of reporting but that part doesn't bother me, in fact I usually find it much more entertaining than MA's stupid one liners and asides.  But those are just personal perferences and there is room for all of us.  I even like MCG's environmental column.  One of my favorites parts about it actually and I know the envronmental part is extreme and the political slant is extreme but I guess my thoughts there are that we are so bombarded by green advice and liberal ideals that an extreme opposite point of view forces you to think (hopefully).  But when they are wrong just blatantly wrong, it has to be called out.
Their latest issue and its environment column attacks the thought behind what would happen with a 4C rise in average temperature on the earth.  They used a flawed covnersion to calculate the change in F and came up wiht an average earth temp of far over a hundred degrees.  The problem with their conversion is that I think they used the quick and dirty method of taking the Celsius number, doubling it and adding thirty to get the Farenheit equivalent.  They went wrong by taking a 4C change, making it eight and adding 30 to come up with a 38F rise in average temp.  It doesn't work that way.  You can do it to the base number and the number that it would rise to and compare them for an accurate F change but you can't apply the formula to the shift.  The article they cite would actually see about an 8F change.
And now I know the MCG hate will ppour out so have at it follks.

I could see where fractions could be considered hard, but some people don't understand how 1+1 can make 3 (or more)

My fault. :P I threw things off center. :brickwall:

I generally don't pay that much attention to math facts and statistics printed in mags.  They're often misconstrued anyway to favor one side or the other.  But, some of their articles do make sense.  They do bring somethings to light.

It'd be nice if some of these magazines would do some math and get their subscriptions more consistent.   I could get a subscription at one price, then a month later, get the same subscription at a cheaper rate.  I quit getting subscriptions just because of this. :RantExplode:

if its not a car or girl then it doesnt belong in the mag..I wonder what makes them think they are experts on other matters?

I just don't get when letters are put in math? I can multiply numbers but come on, letters? X, what is X?

I agree completely.  The magazine is fantastic, but the enviromental B.S. does NOT belong.  It is a waste of pages.  Bring on more cars please....

Musicman

Most of the time they are way off base, but heh... it's their Rag and they can do whatever they please. Don't like it, don't buy it.
As for me... it's the only Rag I currently subscribe too. The rest of them are just so chock full of paid promotional propaganda, misinformation, and other assorted horse manurer that I just can't stand looking at them. They're right up there with 95% of those Stupid A$$ car shows they put on TV for us today. You need an IQ under 70 to enjoy them, and if you watch them long enough that's just what you'll have.

I'll buy MCG on occasion, but I won't actually believe what Rob Wolf prints since he's been outright full of shit before. (I have personally witnessed it.) He once left boxes of magazines, T-shirts, folding tables, & plastic storage cartons behind at Carlisle one year & claimed his vending booth was stolen. This moron stacked everything up next to a trash can at his vending space & then left the fairgrounds on Sunday. I walked by with my wife & daughter where we saw someone picking through all the "trash" that Wolf left behind. Over the next 20 to 30 minutes there were at least 20 people helping themselves to all of the T-shirts, magazines, etc.

In the next issue or so of MCG, Wolf's editorial said he left his space for 2 minutes to get his car & when he returned his booth was gone & that he had the plate number of the thief & an eye witness.   ::)

Moron.   :smilielol:

By the way, convert fractions to decimals & they're a lot easier.   :Twocents:

So, they force you think wrong and that's good? Otay.  :shruggy:
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

Its only wrong John if we assume your way is right.  I prefer to take their propaganda and the kind that you like and form an opinion of my own but thanks for jumping in.

I don't need MCG to educate me on the environmental impact of automobiles. :brickwall:

If it wasn't for the love of overweight, inefficient, polluting, gasoline burning, high horsepower, environmentally unfriendly Mopars Rob Wolf wouldn't have a magazine.  :yesnod:
