One of mine is shot, but I cannot find a 3 wire replacement that will fit. Has anybody found a 3 wire replacement that fits?

Nacho-RT74

this is the most complte shop I have found about those:

http://www.oemsurplus911.com/automotive/ligtsockets.htm

However I can not guarantee will find an exact socket since our pieces are pressed in, not removable. But mostly sure will find someone what will work

PS-35 and 36 seems to work but will need to sold the ground wire ( is not provided )

Or PS 46 and 47, but those are less waterproof.

any of those you choose, will mostly need some extra water isolation. Maybe some glue between socket and housing.

You should post some pics and a how to if you go ahead and do it. This subject has come up a few times, but I'm not sure if anyone has actually done it. Good luck.

Sorry, it is an issue with my browser.

Randy, you may be better off trying to find a "trashed" tail lamp housing and taking one out of those.
My understanding (from when I was checking on getting mine rechromed) is they have a lip that bends back and then removes from the housing.  Looks like something that I didn't want to try because I have little patience some times and no doubt I break something.
But everyplace I spoke to said, "oh yeah, they'll come out"!

there are some on ebay - stating that there are a direct replacements.

I tried some generic plug sockets from Rockauto.com. Also I used off the shelf generic plugs from Auto Zone. AZ seemed to work better. I Had to pry, bend, crimp, dig out the old ones. The new ones needed slight modifications and then are held in with tiny screws in holes I drilled, they also have ground wires going to them now. Just had to be creative. Tail lights are nice and bright again. I didn't take any pics. I wonder what pro shops like GYC does?

There not, I tried. The Dorman 85860 will not fit in 73-74 unless you drill out the socket and I have only found one 2 wire that will fit, butthe housing is brass, so soldering the ground on is going to be hard.

My old housing is perfect except for the tabs being broken off, been trying to figure out a way to make new metal tabs.
