I didn't know that any 318's came factory with 4 speeds.   I thought they were 3 speeds only with a 318 or slant six.   :shruggy:

sounds a LITTLE steep for a 318 car, of course a 68 is the next most desirable after a 1st gen..............................

then it can't be a "numbers matching" car like owner says....

can you say "fraud"?

if you guys are curious ask the seller where he got that 318 with 4 speed and his thoughts were in the future of the car.  ::) :icon_smile_big:

I think a lot of people aren't even sure what numbers matching means, sellers and buyers alike.

Totally agree.  When I bought my 68 I told my work buddy about it and the first thing he asks:  "Is it numbers matching?"  This guy drove a BMW and had never owned a classic.   He just thought that was the right question to ask.   I responded "What do you mean?" and he just stared at me then said "I mean is it all original?".   Granted, an all original car is always numbers matching, but not the other way around.   He didn't know the right answer even to the question he was asking.   Guys like this get in the market for a classic and get effed over because they can't take the time to google a little bit before dropping 50K.

I find it funny when someone almost ALWAYS asks me if "Christine" is "#'s matching".......Um, there were NO numbers matching on these cars and they look at me like I'm from mars. Chrysler historical will only get you so far with the build. No way to know if that "L-350" that's in your Fury is a real deal 350 Golden Commando, or came out of grannies 1958 DeSoto 4dr sedan.

Same thing with '57Chevies. One could build a theoretical "Fuelie" 1957 Chebby and there's hardly ANY way to tell for sure if it's legit. Thank you lucky stars these cars were better documented as far as stamping's on the engines/trans/rears.
