I hate to point out the obvious - aside from the fact that there's a mailbox in the middle of the hood - but doesn't a scoop need a way for air to actually get into the intake?

Have not decided quite yet if it will have a filter on the bottom with a duct plumbed to the front, or a just some holes in the front door. It has to work with whatever becomes my filtering medium.  :scratchchin:

so, if the flag goes down while driving, does that mean you reached warp speed?

how does the mailman deliver the mail to you?

My mailman is elusive, especially on Saturday. Next time he goes flying buy, I'll be ready to catch up with him. What did you think I built this thing for?

Before you go driving you just open the door on the mail box, duh!

Gotta love the 924. I was going to get a 931 hood for my 944 but this seems like a better idea.

I wonder if Stuart has seen this yet...probably not..no popcorn has shown up  :D

Just noticed that the mailbox needs to be taller...I don't think the door will open as it sits

RallyeMike

Drache pegged the original general idea: Ready to race? Open the hood, remove any mail, drop the mail door, close the hood = instant scoop. The mail door wont fly up in the wind because it's under the hood.

Racing done? Park it in the yard and close the door to keep the critters out.

We'll see if the idea survives how I end up filtering the air.

.... Oh yea, forgot to include sales tax in my original cost, so this might not be as good of a deal as I led people to believe. Sorry about that.   :icon_smile_blackeye:

As much as I hate to admit this, the boss man's '88 Mercury Cougar 331 Stroker has a piece of Duckwork from Lowes on one side and no hood.
Yes, it also has "Dirty White Boy" decal'ed down the side as well.

And Mopar's I've heard him say(Chevy and Ford guy), are hurting the shop's image at car shows....... :brickwall:

Are you still running steel control arms?
My 944 is an 1986 and I'm putting in an S2 front sway and coilovers all around. I would probably let the old M474 front struts and rear koni yellows go cheap. But since it looks like you are still 4-lug and steel arms nothing will probably fit.
Also want a free for the price of shipping Mahle oil filter. I ordered the wrong one.

This one (1979) has the aluminum front components on it, and I plan on using them even though I hear they are fragile under contact. The buy was a 2-fer deal, so I actually have a whole other car (1978) for backup parts should they be needed. Thanks for the parts offers, but I'm going to stick to the rules and not accept free or deeply discounted parts (total car value has to be under $500 less the cost of safety gear). After the credit for selling off the interior and buying new front brake pads and new bearings I'll probably only have a total of $350 into this heap, but the officials probably won't even believe that. If I add a set of Koni's and I'll be penalized for BS for sure!

Let me know when you are ready to let that 944 go. I've got 3 Benjamins waiting for you

I recently sold this one for $250, 1985.5 N/A. I bought it for $800, sold the 930 fuchs off it, kept the turbo bumpers, sold the saratoga top, and I took the LSD trans for my other 944. Its only problem was a disgusting interior and milkshake oil.
