Menonite Children in my nieghbourhood learn early too. A couple of years back I caught a glimpse of a faily large tractor scooting across my front yard onto the fields. I do have a lane way for traffic to my fields, so I run out the back door to rattle the drivers cage about driving across my lawn, up pulls a new JD, cab door opens, and I'm astoundad!!  the driver is a 12 year old Menonite boy , barefoot!!!!! At that point,I was no longer angy. Just kinda amazed. Hey!! use the lane way please!! Sorry Sir, was his reply.

He does do a better job than most ops around here.  How many kids here could operate one?

Big deal, I was doing the same thing at his age. I don't recognize that brand of loader he's operating but I always prefered Tonka myself.

Yeah Tonka was always pretty tough. 

I was operating farm equipment at 12. I raked, bailed and put hay up in the barn at 12, pulled a drill and planting grain. I'd also pull wagon loads of grain to town to sell. This is farming country around here and there were lots of kids at the age of 9 and 10 operating a tractor. It's just the way of life.
