What Value On This Challenger?

I know this is a Charger site, but most here are fairly Mopar savvy, so I'll ask the question.  I was going to Ebay my car, but I just found out Mecum is coming to Houston in April which would be a perfect situation.  I can get the car there easily and the people there are looking to buy such a car.

I have a 1970 Challenger R/T in Plum Crazy.  440 Magnum, Auto, Factory Air, Power Steering, Power Front Discs, Power Windows, Rear Defog, Light Monitoring, Rear Wing, Front Spoilers, Vinyl Top, 15" Rallye Wheels, Rallye Dash, Flip-top Fuel Cap, Rim-Blow Steering Wheel, Dual Chrome Rallye Mirrors.  It is numbers matching with all original sheet metal that has never been hit.  NO rust.  This is one of the most loaded Challengers I've ever seen.  Only major options missing are Cruise Control and the SE Package.  It's in mint condition.

Where would you price this car?  And would you put a reserve on it?

Thanks for the input.

GO SELL CRAZY SOMEWHERE ELSE WE ARE ALL STOCKED UP HERE

Iron Chef

Sorry guys...here they are.  Car is dirty...been sitting in my garage for a bit, but it'll be professionally detailed and the engine steam cleaned when sent to auction.  The steering wheel is temporary as the rim blow unit was being restored.

Thanks for the compliments.  I'm going to put a $50K reserve on her and see how it goes.

Gonna nitpick here.  50K and above...not gonna be a problem.  But you gotta get an original steering wheel and do something about the battery.  It's like buying a General Lee with an 02 on the side.  That car is beautiful.  Good luck!!

Sad to see you sell the Chally.  :pity:  It is a beautiful , well optioned car. I'm sure you will get your reserve. Good luck with the sale.

I don't see why this car won't meet your reserve, unless it's a dead auction.  Detailed just right, you'll meet/ exceed it easily.

Great car but I think 50k = no sale. Id say about 35-38k.

I agree, 50k is an attachment value. 50k would be a low mile all original survivor or a 100% rotisserie restored one.

I agree - if it is 100% solid. The best investment would be to detail the heck out of the entire car - especially the engine compartment - paint the master cylider black - etc. - and buy a correct looking rad cap.

Is that a p/s cooler? Car must have an axle package as well.

Iron Chef

The rim blow wheel will be put back on, and I'm going to look into a replacement battery although I'm really not selling it as a survivor per se.  It IS all-original with the exception of a few A/C parts needed to get the original system running.  As I said in my first post, the car will be completely detailed including the engine.  This car could be made into a 100 point car with very little investment.  But it'll be someone else's investment.

Axle is a stock 3.23 Sure Grip.  $50K is a value I'm hoping to get out of the car.  If I have to drop the reserve to sell it, so be it.  I'm not planning on bringing the car home with me.  I'll also be selling my Super Bee at auction in September at no reserve.  My 2010 Corvette Grand Sport is also being sold.

I'm pretty much getting out of musclecars (and a big car collection in general).  I'll always have a soft spot for Mopars but I have a lot of other interests these days and I realized that I just don't have as much time or interest to tinker with them as I used to.  The only car in my collection that I'm planning on keeping is my 1994 Corvette ZR-1 and after the Challenger sells, I'm going to shop for a 2005 Ferrari F-430 (serious).

Hiya Jackie...hope you're feeling better.  :engel016:

Clean it up and take some really good pictures for Ebay. Definately get the right steering wheel.

As I have said on here before, cars are not selling for big dollars on Ebay as far as I can tell. Put it on there with a $50K reserve. Ebay is most valuable right now to get the car out there and get interest. I got 2500 views a week on my Chally vert and then finally ended up with three guys who kept calling/emailing me. Finally after a couple of weeks one came up with enough money.

It's not a $50k car today, but you'll find that out.

Thanks, Mike. I am hanging in there. Sorry to see you are selling the Mopars. Good luck with everything.
