Can anyone tell me if there is any difference between a 68 and a 69 road runner door? :shruggy: i have perfect 68 doors i need to put on a 69 with no doors :eek2: i want to make sure it is correct for the car. ( i know bird decals are different. :icon_smile_big: ) thanks!

I think if any would be small like with the Charger doors. 68-70 will bolt on, but with the Charger's the door lock on the inside is in different location for 1969? -1970.  The Plymouth's may be the same way. Early ones were toward the rear next to the quarter window. Later ones are closer toward the middle of door.

As for the outside, the sheetmetal is all the same I believe.

It's just as Cooter suspects, sheet metal is the same and the lock button was moved from the rear to the center.  I've been told by unreliable sources that the lock button move was a federally mandated change with one person telling me it was to make it harder for car thieves to reach the button with a wire and pop the lock and another claiming it was moved there so that you would naturally lock the door when you rest your arm on the top of the door.
Personally I can believe it was a forced change but I would be more willing to bet it was to discourage thieves than it was to trick you into locking the door.

Hard telling what prompted that change, I agree :2thumbs:  Also, your door emblems are different as well.

Not only is the door lock button moved, but all the inside guts (rods, latch, linkage) are different as well.
The door latches are '68-only latches, different from '69.

IIRC the levers where the rods attach are a little different on the '68 latches. I know the '69-'70 setup uses a little turnbuckle rod gizmo that the '68 doesn't have.
I have a '68 door with the latch still in it, and some '69-'70 latches laying around. I'll have to pull the '68 latch out & do a side by side comparison.

Oh, okay.  But basically if you have one set or the other it will work as long as you aren't mixing and matching inside the door.  I was wondering because I knew I had taken 68 doors and bolted them onto 69 cars and they worked fine.
