Found a 74 Cuda project says 340 but last year for a 340 in a Cuda was 73 so it's probably a 360 or just a Barracuda.    http://bloomington.craigslist.org/cto/3554461060.html
Sold my Charger unfortunately....never got it finished.

greenpigs

They could have swapped a 340 in it..that does happen.

HEY!! Another cheap musclecar. Wow, they seem to be popping up everywhere now. This economy must be wearing down the folks with these cars. now they have seemed to have come back to reallity on price.

After 72 you could get a 'Cuda with either the 318 or 360 (340 in early 73). It was more of a looks package instead of a performance package by then.

They made less than 12,000 total in 1974. You better jump on that!

Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

If it were a 318 car it was a Barracuda, 1973 was the last year for the 340 in the Cuda, then the Cuda in 74 was a 360 car, I have never seen a 318 Cuda but years ago I saw a super rare 70 Cuda with a slant 6 at the Mopar Nationals.

He also might not have any idea what the difference is between a Cuda and a Barracuda and he just figured all e-bodes were called Cuda.   Hell I'm not 100% sure what the differences were.

72-74 Cuda had the rallye dash cluster, scooped hood, rear cutout valance panel, and side stripe along with Cuda emblems. The barricade had none of those options, flat hood, standard gauges, plain rear valance, and barracuda emblems, most had /6 or 318.

Ahh good to know.  In my long-term plan of Mopar Domination the E-Body Cuda is at least 3rd on the list.   Once the 68 is done my next target is a 71/72 Runner, then a Cuda.   Then a K-Car.  Just kidding about the K-Car.

I had a 71 Challenger and a 70 Cuda so I have plenty experience with the E bodies, fun cars just a little too small for my 6'8 frame.

Starting in '72, the standard engine in a 'Cuda was a 318 with 340, or 360 in 74, optional.

last year for /6 Barracuda was 72
Rally dash optional in Barracuda all three years
Performance hood optional on a Barracuda in 72-73

There is a lot of good and accurate information posted in the library at Hamtramck Historical. http://www.hamtramck-historical.com/library.shtml

September 24, 1971 letter indicating change in standard engine in 'Cuda from 340 to 318 http://www.hamtramck-historical.com/images/dealerships/1972PlymouthOrderingInfo/1972%20p%20pib%205.jpg

Here's a 72 318 three speed 'Cuda

No such thing as a /6 Cuda.

Ghoste

I think he means Barracuda though.  A lot of people still freely mix the Cuda model name and the Cuda nickname for all the Barracudas.

No about 10 years ago in Mopar Muscle they had a feature car that was a 1970 CUDA! with a slant 6! it was lemon twist yellow, I kept all my magazines I will have to dig it out, remember NEVER SAY NEVER WHEN IT COMES TO A MOPAR!!  :icon_smile_big:

I still think you will find it was a barracuda and not a cuda.   :shruggy:

Barracuda VIN starts with BH
'Cuda VIN starts with BS
Tomorrow is promised to NOBODY . . . .
