At this rate the fast and furious charger that sold at Barret Jackson will be worth 2 million!!!!

Ghoste

Yep, if they can keep that press campaign going it shouldn't be much longer before the story is accepted as true.

Wonder if this guys Q&A looks as bad as the other guy selling his over-priced Charger?

Hmm,  I would think there are a big pile of questions coming in asking for something other than anecdotal evidence probably matched by an equal number of comments from people telling him how awesome it is that he "found the Bulllitt Charger" even though neither group have any intention of buying it.
I would like to believe its the real deal regardless of the price personally but I need a little more before I take that cup of Kool-Aid.

I may never be able to afford an original movie car but will still build a Bullitt clone 68 Charger someday.

Whaaat..the fast and furious 70 hybrid charger only sold for 90k or so and the blower was fake!!!

Ghoste

But it can provide hard evidence that it was used in the movie. ;)

Besides, the F&F charger is a 69, not a 70.  That means it's fake all around.  Just one big boob job.

Indygenerallee

Sold my Charger unfortunately....never got it finished.

If they had known how much trouble it would be to get '70 front end sheetmetal, they would have probably used a 68 or 69 for that car in the first place.

Since the fourth movie they have been using fiberglass front ends on most of those Chargers that aren't being crashed.  It was less trouble to have fiberglass panels made than to keep hunting down decent '70 sheetmetal.

myk

Yes, they have their own stash of fiberglass front ends, so when they pick up rust buckets like mine they can just convert them easily...

Ghoste

I have an idea, now its going to seem crazy when you read it but give it a moment to sink in.  When it first came to me I thought I was going nuts because it seemed like madness to me too but how about this, what if they just quit crashing them? :o

NEVER happen....I offer the General Lee as example. If it weren't for the distruction of 300 or so Chargers, there wouldn't be as many fans of the '69 Charger as there are today.

Same thing holds true today. Nobody wants to see the "Old car" survive except a few older foggies that watch newer movies about half as much as they own new I-pads.

Thats actually the heart of my beef with it Cooter.  That stupid franchise where the ricers always win with their flammable "nossssss" and 12 speed transmissions and the sinister Charger although possibly the fastest car in the movie but we never find out for sure because it always gets wrecked keeps this myth going among the baggy pants crowd.  It shows the Charger as somehow this disposable loser.  Now there might also be an argument made that the fact they keep wrecking it and it keeps coming back shows it as more like an automotive phoenix.  A symbol of America where you can beat it in a battle but you never win the war. :shruggy:

Its actually a hybrid of parts from 68, 69, and 70!!!  They mention it alot during the interviews well the guy in charge of building the cars mentions.

I think it's pretty clear that F&F shows Vin's Charger as the most badass car of the bunch.

They tend to dramatically wreck badass cars like Chargers BECAUSE they respect them highly.   Drama comes from things like that happening.  Obi-Wan Kenobi got a noble dramatic death in "Star Wars" because he was respected (he didn't get shot by a random stormtrooper and die on a joke or something).  In "Titanic" they spend the whole movie chasing that huge diamond and then the old woman drops it into the ocean at the end.  KITT got destroyed in "Knight Rider" a bunch of times.  Herbie the love bug gets the crap kicked out of him a lot.  The General Lee gets wrecked & trashed in the early scenes of the DOH movie.

The cars are extensions of the characters.  Vinnie gets a big, burly, old-school Detroit muscle machine.  Remember he also had a '70 Chevelle.  Paul Walker drives various modern lightweight sporty imports.   Vinnie's Charger keeps getting destroyed like the characters keep getting hit with problems/adversaries to overcome.  The Charger never quits just like Vinnie never does.

Of course they didn't sit down and plan everything to be this way 12 years ago.  But this is what it has evolved into.
