Would the fourth rifle down be the venerable VEPR 12?

No sir, but close...

It's a SAIGA-12 That I moved the gas system back 3.75 Inches, and shortened the barrel length to 7.75 inches.

Look closely.  This has a extra hole that adds a selector to automatic.

The shotgun is NOT! Fun to shoot... It is a croud pleaser though, and also gets rid of unwanted knuckle hair with each shot.

The colt pictured looks to have a sear block pinned in as early colts often do. If that were a third whole drilled for FA parts, the pin would be a lit smaller.

If you look close at the picture of my four short guns, you will find a full auto third hole in one of them.

Pinned sear block, pin is to large for FA parts.

This particular AR pictured has the Colt-Factory-Installed sear block that prevents it from becoming a full auto model and they were sold in this configuration for a few years by them. It is certainly a semiauto and shoots very well.

ACUDANUT

Yea, and his only had one larger hole, not two small ones for a pin.  I have never seen that "block" with one pin though.

I've never seen a pinned sear block like that either. I bought my Colt A2 in 1984 and it doesn't have one.  :shruggy:

I've been trying to decide whether to buy a shotgun or handgun next.......so many choices. I'm really leaning towards a Glock mid size frame but cal is still up in the air. I'm partial to .45's (military warm & fuzzy) because of its one-shot stopping power regardless of strike point. On the other hand a 9 mike carries more rounds but requires a precise strike for a one-shot stop. .40 cal rounds are a fair medium but they charge more for them than .45 rounds WTF?

Pretty much decided on a Remington 870 tac. Love a Saiga but not the prices.  :shruggy:

Thoughts gentlemen?

Well, since you like an 870 tac model, I guess it kinda answers the question of "what are you going to do with it?" Seems like you are looking for a home defense firearm. Good choice but, they also offer a 6=1 Remington 870 Express with a synthetic stock that should be considered and probably is cheaper. I am not a fan of pistol-grip stocks on my shotguns but that is just a preference. Look at Mossberg's Model 590 also. I am left-handed and a Mossberg tang safety is much more left-handed friendly. Just something more to consider. A Browning pump such as their Upland Model would also be a consideration. My home-defense shotgun is a late '70's Ithaca Model 37 M&P. Parkerized (factory finish) 20" bbl 7+1 shot and walnut stock and fore-end that has never failed me but it kicks like a horse. My son, long ago, nicknamed the gun "Mr. Business" as it is the one gun he would take if he was gonna take care of a little "business" when he got to where he is going!

For home defense pistols I use mostly a .357 revolver, hidden in most rooms in my home for "emergencies", but my carry weapon is a first-year manufactured Glock G30 .45acp. Made around 1996, I think, and it has never hiccuped for me, not even once! Yeah, they kinda feel like a brick in your hand but it is very accurate and totally reliable. 10+1 in .45acp should be enough but it can also use G21 13 round mags. Got lots of Glocks but this one is the one I carry.

twodko

Thanks for your observations. I'll google that 860 Express. Remy 870's and Ithaca's were the standard shotguns when I was in the military..........a life time ago.    a strong basic synthetic stock, pistol grip or not, true semi auto shotgun is what I want to buy and one of the Remington's will fit the bill.

The more I read about the .45 Glocks I'm strongly inclined to go that rout. As if things weren't squirrelly enough here in Calijokia they may just get worse. I file my taxes in a couple weeks and plan on making these purchases then.

This state is an embarrassment to the union IMO......to many green weanies, tin foil hat wears and elitist ass bites. Just sayin'

I'm so temped to get out, this just may be the year. I'm retired and am blessed with a good pension and IRA.  :shruggy:

twodco, better get out of Cali. when you can if you want or own guns.  When you posted in your reply to this thread, you now say a true semiauto shotgun is what you want. I suggested other options for a PUMP shotgun as I thought you said you were strongly thinking about an 870 TAC. That is a pump and I guess I am a little confused. If you are actually looking at a semiauto shotgun, Remington make a nice TAC model of an 1100.

If you want a Glock .45acp, you better hurry. No telling what those idiots in charge in Cali. are up to now. Totally agree with the "too many ..." statements. Probably time to get out.

Yeah, pardon me for being less than clear. I'm my sweet wife's caregiver so I try to get my ecomms/chores/errands addressed in between her needs. What I mean by a true semi auto shot gun is one where you only wrack it once and fire away.

I bought my first ar-15 in 85. (still have it) it did not have that extra piece in the lower. either way, it cannot ever be made to an auto, which is fine by me. Don't want or need it.
That semi auto shotgun would feel better if it had a buffer spring to take most of the recoil out.

Yeah - here in CA I feel like a criminal for owning an AR - also got disqualified from the lovely LAPD because of it too....         BUT - that's ok - they'll issue be one if I had gotten hired. Anyway, the CA gun laws are all in the news - but i'm just about out of here anyway - pretty much any other state sounds good about now.
