Anyone know if this is true?

1968 Charger 383 4spd. 1-of-259 (1 of 6 A/C)

This car has been for sale for a long time.  I asked this question last time I saw this.

yup, saw on craigs now for a year!!!  Why does it not sell I dont know?  The price point is probably out of alot of peoples leagues.  Sweet spot would be 25k!!!  Then everyone snatches it up, who knows  :scratchchin:

Dino,
didnt know you were near Detroit man!  I have family there......one works at baumont hospital area....

Yep Ann Arbor, I work for the University of Michigan health center so technically I'm the competition.   :icon_smile_big:

I didn't know Ann Arbor either, for some reason I thought you were in metro Detroit somewhere like Warren or Troy out that way.

Spike's from Warren but I haven't seen him here in years.

And technically Ann Arbor is metro Detroit.   :icon_smile_big:

Tuffy's in Plymouth, a bit closer to the D.

I don't do the dream cruise, it's insanely crowded but I will definitely meet up with you if you're coming this way.   :yesnod:

To get this topic back on track ( ;)) - I have this car in my files already. I've attached the fender tag for laughs and giggles....

Nice car, no doubt.  :yesnod:  It would be my '68 "XP" first choice.

the question is dan is it worth his asking price?

I just saw some pics of it and to be honest I was not impressed based on price.  The exterior in his craigs ad is awesome I think, but then you look deeper and it dont look as good.

Interesting...  What makes it 1 of 6?

A/C with a big block and a 4-speed. Only with the 383 4-bbl could you have a manual transmission and air conditioning. Not an option with the R/T's and 383 2-bbl.

Dan, I was under the impression that that made it 1 of 259?

Reason why I keep digging deeper is if what you say is correct, my 68 is 1 of the 6.

There are 259 383 4bbl 4spd 68s, 6 of which have AC.

and something like 76 383 4spd 2bbl cars.

Dodge made 259 of the 383 4-bbl 4-speed Chargers in 1968. Only six (that are known - I don't believe archival documentation still exists to know for certain) have A/C.

Dodge made 74 383 2-bbl 4-speed cars. 333 total between the 4-bbl's and 2-bbl's.

As far as being worth the price I don't know - I would have to see a lot more photos, and specifically photos of areas that don't normally see direct sunlight. It is a beautiful car, though. I love the QQ-1  :yesnod: hardtop with white interior combination.

If I recall, the owner put it away for the winter but I wouldn't mind driving over there in the spring and snap a few pictures.  Any excuse to drive my own!   :icon_smile_big:
