alot of those cars I have seen on craigslist and ebay that NEVER sold and they been a year plus on them.  Still dont get what so special about BJ auctions unless they auction off something something very rare, but alot of those mopars can be had at a cheaper price outside BJ.

TruckDriver

The difference, it's a playground for millionaires. I would go there too if I had that kind of money. Just like when you need parts for your car, you can go to Napa and pay 25% more just for the Napa name, or go to Advance Auto or Pep Boys, and get he exact same parts for around half the price.

I have a hard time believing that where millionaires are that bored they throw away an extra 50k plus on a car thats only what 30k or so. Millionaires dont become millionaires by throwing money away that I can tell you.  Im not calling them frugal, but they just dont throw that kind money around that I have seen.

Like bubbas GL car we all know he over paid for that sorry as charger thats for sure.

Look at the 2nd charger on the list its a 70 that car has been on craigslist for a year now and ebay for maybe 3 months he wants 130k for it he cant even sell it.  I could go on for examples on some of the cars listed becuase I have searched all of craigslist every city daily.  Ebay also......

My wife was at BJ yesterday for a few hours.......she said "Tons of nice Mopars" there.   :2thumbs:  She couldn't fit in more time because of her schedule.

She did get to do some hot laps at some demo thing for fast cars.  She got in the wrong line by accident and ended up in a Shelby Mustang.....loved the car.

Next year we're both going to hit it for a few days.....our uncle has a winter home there, so we'll stay with him and call it a vacation.  No intention of buying anything, obviously, just a place to see lots of nice cars, etc.

If you're talking about the 70 yellow 6pack car, it had 2 different stripe packages on it.  It had the pinstripes and the bumblebee stripe.  Who knows what else was mixed up on it.  $45k was a respectable number for it.

He has been asking 130k for it but sold for 52k.  Goes to show you that what sellers expect from a 'charger' and what they 'get' are two different things!!  Some people still (sellers) still dont realize this  ::)

That fast and furious car I hope future prospect owners look it over very well as in the blower is fake!

JB400

I missed that one.  I was watching 2 shows at once.  That orange charger got what he deserved out of it.  It wasn't worth more than that in my opinion.

That second yellow Charger 6pak car, didn't that have the wrong mirrors on it? I know they had color matching mirrors in '70, but those looked like late '70's mirrors like of Aspens & Volares.  :scratchchin:

Yeah, it has body painted mirrors.  Don't know if they are correct or not. They put the bumblebee stripe over the pinstripes and the lower part of the car doesn't look like it's even painted.

1974dodgecharger

Is it me or the prices are more 'down to earth' prices on some of these cars vs in the past?

JB400

It's still early in the game.  Wait until Friday, then the prices will get rediculous or give you a general idea at where the hobby/ economy is.

I don't know. I think cars prices so far are way up over last year.

I think that customized 70 was a deal for the buyer. Maybe it's not what everyone likes, but for someone looking for a car like that, it would cost a ton more to build it.

I'm very surprised that a dealer chose a plain brown Mustang coupe :eek2: to "mothball" with 199 actual miles on it. I would have chosen a Mach 1 fastback in a nicer color combo with the best power train offered at the time. Did you see the mid 70's Hurst olds that brought 50 grand ! :smilielol:

TruckDriver

That wasn't a plain Mustang. I used to have one like that, and they are highly optioned usually. Mine had all Mach 1 drive train and the 351 SCJ engine. One of the fastest cars I ever had.

I don't know. I think cars prices so far are way up over last year.

well I guess I say that cause last year I had no money, but this year I had some money in hand for some of these cars thats why I think they are lower this year  :icon_smile_big:

Did anyone see what the '57 Chrysler 300C sold for?
If Truckdriver don't list it, you'll have to check the BJ website.

Prices are about what I expected.  It was nice seeing a 6 pack RR hit the $100k mark.  I expected more out of the 68 Hemi GTX though.

Brutalowner

Their site just has the 300 marked as sold. No price. For some reason I thought it was to hit the block at about 8:15 tonight. Site says it went thru around 3pm..

All prices for the cars I have listed are current for tonight 1/18/13. ;)

Seems like people lost intrest in Mopars for the most part. The 1 of 1 '71 Challenger vert, and the '70 Hemi charger...  :shruggy:  I figured they would go for a hell of a lot more money for sure.

Yeah, seems that way. Don't know how I feel about that. A double edged sword, if you are out in the market. Guess it's a buyers market, to a point..
Thanks for the update too!

The colour killed it. In a high impact colour year the blah colours just don't pull as much $$

That yellow 70 charger also had an issue with the taillight wiring. I noticed that when the brakes were applied, the left inside brake light was normal BUT the right taillights had the 2 outside lights illuminated  & i don't think anyone noticed like they did when someone halted the auction momentarily because they saw blue smoke and were saying it was burning oil  around the rings. I didn;t get to hear what else they said about it. That is a car that needs a closer inspection to make sure the owner didn't take other shortcuts restoring it. When i see wires crossed ( tail/brake lights) it sends up a red flag.

It wasn't the charger that was smoking, it was a car behind it they said. And a LOT of cars there have tail/brake light issues I see.

right, they stopped the auction and said that the charger had a new rebuild and was not smoking. the smoke was coming from the next car. then they started the auction from a lower bid and it had to regain the value. but i think at that time some people had it in their minds and laid back.

SAD...that fast and furious charger went for a 90k plus someone got jipped really hard!!!!!  I guess you could say its an 'investment' since its based on the movie just like how the guy is selling the legit Bullit charger for 1 million dollars.

nvrbdn

the green hornet went unsold, not meeting its reserve. guess its gona stay put for another year.

You say that, but you did'nt see/inspect that car in person.A friend of mine got in his truck  w/trailor/money,and drove 2,200 miles to Minn to buy it,came home empty trailor, the seller was stuck and would'nt move from $115-120k,all I will say is buyer beware, and it needed a resto !!!!So to me the price was still to high.

And I'll add he also went to Kentucky to see the other 70 Hemi charger, currently on ebay for $140,the car in Minn was nicer !!!!!!!That guy is stuck on $110k.
Some peole neeed to get the emails that it's not 2005-2008 anymore,Mopars are down, and if you think you can get six fgures and up,it better dam well be one HELL of a resto,in/out/top/bottom/correct,sit your but in the seat and enjoy not having to lift a finger on it for that kind of steam !!! :Twocents:

So what's up with the reserves this time? Was it because on one on the main guys wanted a mint for his Shelby Mustang? I know when someone famous passes away people on eBay pay over the value. Looks like they were fishin for more millions than what was offered.

WTF VW bus?!

I know 21 window ones are their holy grail, but $165k?

It is amazing what draws big $$ over something else.

Like the mustard Land Cruiser.....it pulled in more than the 70 Hemi Charger......I thought, "You gotta be strokin' me!"

If you are talking about the Green Hornet Shelby, that was out of Craig Jacksons personal collection, he sold a few
of his own cars ''with a reserve of coarse''
