My brother called me from a car show in VA he met a guy that had a RT10 Challenger.  He said it was a limited edition that included the mopar M on the hood.  The guy said there was an RT 11 as well that was the same package on the Charger.  I asume these are 5.7 cars.  Anyone know anything about these?

A "Mopar '10" Challenger, or one of the V-10 drag cars?

yeah, the MOPAR 10. Basically an appearance package - they also offered it on the Charger and i think (but not sure) either the Caliber or Avenger. All blacked out with accent stripes and a hood scoop. They throw a crappy MOPAR Cold Air Intake on there for "performance" (IIRC, they used to claim 15 hp gain...lol) and a suspension "upgrade".

It's really nothing special.

I agree and it's black & blue; the color of a bruise.

Do they only come in black?

Yup.  Also, they have about 20 "Mopar" & "M" logo all over the car. It's just waaaay too much.

I dunno why, but I think those six pack /T/A -type hoods look horrendous on modern Challengers / Chargers - seen them on both. But to each their own.

I'm always leery of those "special edition" cars that are mostly cosmetic, esp. since I kinda got into the LX modding scene. At some point, it makes more sense to buy a plain jane car (be it Charger, Challenger, etc) and mod it with wheels, stripes, interior stuff, etc for a hell of a lot less money, and you get to do it exactly the way you want it.  I mean, going for a higher trim / limited edition car makes sense in most cases when the differences are substantial (like bigger engine, suspension, etc. - like going from an R/T to an SRT) but not when you're just getting a bunch of stickers and emblems.

Having seen one in person, they are amazing.
I've never owned anything but a MoPar. Can you say that?

I've seen them in person too & the word that comes to mind for me is gawdy.

Its a special order car it cots roughly 100k to make the driveline is modified.  I read this in a mopar magazine....also not any joe can walk in the dealership and special order it either......you gotta be 'SPECIAL'

The guy in Va was president of the tidewater Mopar club, I wouldn't think that would make you special.  The fact that he also had a yellow convertible 70 Challenger like mine did however qualify him as special.

$100K to make? wow, no wonder Chrysler was in the dumps...spending $100K to make the car and selling it for $40K.

And anyone can buy the Mopar 10. I've seen them used at dealerships.

its a special car though as in you have to request it and even after you request you have to be very 'special' to get it.  They put the viper engine in it, modify the driveline to fit, etc, its not a bad deal I say considering the viper itself is that much at the 100k mark and putting one in a chally, modern, is pretty badass. Its not a massed produced vehicle per say due to the mods that need to be done to it.

you could call it the 'SRT Challenger'

74 dc, your confusing the Mopar Challenger R/T '10 with the Drag Pack.  The Drag Pack has the viper v10, this black car with the blue stripes is nothing more than a fancy R/T with a Hemi.  Drag Pack cars are only available in white and are completely stripped of all thier street luxeries.

mauve66

they also had a version with the murdered out flat black and the blue stripe but as they said its just a decal kit, not 100K either, and for the dragpak cars you don't have to be special, you just have to be a legitimate racer since they can't be titled for the street

I thought the "Mopar 10" was an appearance package for 2010
As was the "mopar 11" and the "mopar 12" for 2012 and was available on chargers as well?

Mopar 10 = Challengers
Mopar 11 = Chargers
Mopar 12 = not sure?

I think he's confusing them too. But I thought even the Drag Pack wasn't $100K - a lot less than that (I could be wrong though). I remember something about how it had to be ordered off the MOPAR catalog and it had a part number and everything (unlike a street legal car)

Lord Warlock

The mopar10 challengers were all black, but you had 3 choices in the stripe colors, blue, red, or silver.  They had all sorts of mopar badging on it, and the t handle shifter on autos.  There were supposedly a limited run of 500 cars, which they tried to sell at a premium since it was a numbered limited edition, the hood scoop was functional (as are all of the newer TA hoods, should you remove the covering over the holes and purchase the airbox) Prior to the mopar10, the ta hoods were not functional, only decorative, except for mine which i had to cut open the holes before i painted or installed it. All of the scoop parts are available thru mopar currently, but they won't sell you some of the mopar10 pieces unless you can prove you already own a mopar10.  At least in my case, i have the stock hood and the TA hood should i ever want to go back to stock for a different look.  Those that bought the exterior appearance package were stuck with a non functional TA hood only (in 2010).
Mopar10s tended to cost about 2500 more than a standard r/t, or in the ballpark of an r/t classic optioned out.  (36-40k)

For details on the mopar 10 you can go here:  http://www.allpar.com/cars/dodge/challenger/mopar-10.html

The dragpak challengers were non street legal cars designed only for the track, and came with a viper v10 in them, and yes they were pricey, i'd still like to get the v10 in a street version though.  I think these were selling for around 75k back in 2010, but could have been more, i've seen a couple in person.  Seems like a lot to spend on a non street legal car.  The drag pack v10 challengers were however all white models.  To my knowledge they weren't officially an RT though.  So calling it an RT10 wouldn't be accurate.
