Welcome to the site and congratulations on getting a Charger!  :2thumbs:

I'm sorry to party poop on the "slant six fever" we've got going but, :D

Rare or not, there's no way I'd keep that engine in a 1970 Charger unless you like to hear this sound....

(Go to the 1:45 minute mark and stay tuned for about two minutes. :eek2:).

Tilar

You can laugh about the sound of that old GP all you want, but that old two-banger would drag a 70 (or any year) Charger backwards around a football field regardless of what engine you stuffed down in it, and not even spin a tire.   :smilielol:

God must love stupid people; He made so many.

Johnny Poppers sound good to me. :shruggy:  At least Tuffy didn't post a vid of him in the morning :eek2:

Slant sixes can hold thier own done right.  It's just not that practical.

I can wait for pics :popcrn:

F8-4life

Waiting for pics, while I wait here are my thoughts on the subject. Besides being a cool/rare/odball. I think 6-chargers weirdly seem cooler because while the body (car itself) is the same...the mill is tamer/lamer. This in turn makes the car is soo much cooler relitive to whats under the hood.  Like if you were looking at the motor and then got out from under the hood, youd almost be suprized that it was a charger in the first place. Pure minimilistic uniqueness... too many people think it has to be a 440 to be a "proper" charger.

Rare factory oddballs are cool as long as you can live them after the restoration has been paid for. I never heard of anyone properly restoring a Satellite 9-Passenger Wagon Slant Six with a 3-speed manual column shift transmission because it was 1 of ## built... Just sayin'! :Twocents:

If you keep it original you better LOVE IT for better or worse.  :2thumbs:

Nice project.  No power brakes, but it has a/c. Will look forward to seeing this one done.

Somebody already got the backlight and tailight trim, original seats, steering wheel, carpet, radio, door panels,...and they probably even butchered a nice grille trying to get it out ! :icon_smile_blackeye:

How long has it been sitting?

grdprx

I missed this thread too..  Heck of a car, I like that project.  /6 is cool!   :coolgleamA:

The rest of the grill and trim is in the trunk. Seats were taken to a shop to get redone and forgotten. It was going to be a restore but was forgotten about. The car has been sitting since 1998, at least that's when it was last registered. I have been going through and cleaning it up /  out all day. My FIL has had it for over 10 years. Since I meet his daughter :)

The plan for the car, is going to kill you guys. I plan on just making it a beater driver painted flat black and piece it together over a couple of years. Once I win the Lotto, Itll be a frame off job.

buckeyecharger

Nothing wrong with making it road worthy till you got the funds to restore. I wouldnt worry about the flat black paint though, just start saving and putting it back together. It'll cost enough $$$ just getting it back on the road. Hey, you started out ahead of the game...nothing beats free!!!

Probably just a misunderstanding.

On the contrary, that sounds great!  Restorations cost a lot of money and time.  If someone can't handle the hit at once it goes under a tarp, as you can attest.  Rather see it being enjoyed and used.

buckeyecharger

oops! I thought I read it was given to him. my bad, must've been reading that in some other thread. Exactly my point, drive it now and start saving.

Question:  Is yours a hood turn signal delete car?  If it is, it will have blank metal pads where the normal turn signal plastic lenses would be in the hood.  I could not tell from the pictures if it was one or not....

Nice project from the pictures.  :2thumbs:  It is worth restoring back to stock. :Twocents:...

Defiantly different.

I missed on spellcheck[was going for definitely] and decided to leave it. You may be going against the grain for some, but a lot of us appreciate the unique. Should be a nice cruiser. Not everything needs to be a massively over powered asphalt ripper. I know with Mopars, it's hard to resist.....but it can be done.

Good plan. Do it right, not over.

And most importantly, have fun doing it. :2thumbs:

shart70rt

You could probably fit a second slant six under the hood too!!
