On the other hand, if he has any attachment to the car at all and its his wife making him sell it, I totally understand a ridiculous selling price.  I would do the same.

i told him I would offer 20k through ebay....HE GOT REALLY EXCITED!!!!!

If he has any attachment to it at all he should grow a pair and tell his wife hes not selling it.

How many guys actually win this type of argument?  If a woman was compassionate enough to her guy, she wouldn't have brought up the idea of selling his pride and joy, even if it's a rust bucket.  There'd have to be a pretty good reason for such a woman to bring up the idea.  Most notibly, if he has never done anything to it in the last 10 years or so, and it's just in the way or he wants something he can actually drive and enjoy.

Ghoste

Getting around to fixing it is an entirely different argument though and we don't know how much or how little he has put into it.  As for the woman thing, what can I say?  Some of us do marriage real well some have to struggle some marry their perfect match and others it seemed like a good idea at the time.  In my case, I've learned to pick my battles and if I would do the stupid reserve thing if my wife made such a demand as sell the car and also in my case she is capable of it although I can't recall her ever proving such.  I'm just playing devils advocate for the guy, who knows what really going on, he could just be a really misinformed flipper or someone who piad too much for a project and needs to get out or it could be part of some elaborate Columbian drug lord money laundering operation.  Mabe its an FBI sting somehow, who the hell knows what the truth is.

I wanted to try and follow Cooters example on these kind of threads but I tend to agree with you.  Some things just get priced beyond a realistic chance.

And I commend you Ghoste. Really hard to see people like this gentleman that clearly have something overpriced and not wanna tell him bout it.

However, doing just that will only get a hard-headed response like Rockstar got. He will come down once reallity sets in as stated earlier.
He is banking on the cool factor in these cars. He knows people will pay out the ass for it. I offer the first owners of new Challengers actually driving UP the prices and ordering cars BEFORE they were built so when I go to dealership, I have to suffer the stupidity of others.

Same thing applies here. YOu would never get the money for a Hyundai, or color TV that a '69 Charger would even in this shape, as neither will ever be as cool. Even with the harsh ride, Sucky NON A/C, Auto on column, NON Paddle shift, and 9 MPG.

I'd like to change the title from "Dreamer" to "Legally Insane" please. Look at the Q&A. You cant possibly feel bad for this nut

Oh boy, that was entertaining but painful.

You guys remember this car?  This was the ebay $5,500 69 Charger, 383 big block AC car I picked up in Vegas last year.  Wade and I had it running & driving (smoking the tires) in 2 days.  This was a great deal but after fixing the electrical and other things it was only worth $14k-$15k.  This shows any new guys to the hobby that this guy has no idea what the value is of these cars.   I'm not buying his story that the wife says sell it.

F8-4life

yikes that guy took a beating in the q/a section. There is 2 ways to look at it, and I think all the guys shitting on his ad are more in the wrong then he  is for overpricing HIS own property. He will learn a lesson by his car not selling, but he will not learn much of anything by a bunch of guys talking down to him/& his car.  I mean the car is not worthless and maybe he has priced it 2x actuall value, but people do this all the time, its just more noticable with project cars.

F8-4life

Oh and just to play the advocate, I bet he could list that very same car for 4k and still all the guys into it would tell him its junk. HUmen nature shows alot when selling a old car.

skip68

I'm more concerned about the people that are new to these cars getting educated by the Q&A's than the owner.   He knows it's not worth $15k and I refuse to believe he's an idiot.   :icon_smile_wink:

I did ask him a question but mine was very civil. He got beat up pretty bad on it, but I think his answers "you don't know these cars" and "you wish you had a real car not made of plastic and glue" really pissed off a lot of people. He was very condescending when people asked why he thought his car was worth so much, that's what opened the flood gates. Its his car, he can ask whatever he wants for it, but in the end, if your selling your car in the public eye where millions of people can see it,your gonna take criticism when your that far off base.

The70RT

No reserve and he has a 500 dollar bid. Maybe his wife relisted it  :smilielol:

He listed it again but with a no reserve. I guess he took to much of a beating. Now it will sell for sure and he will  learn what reality is.

Well that was an entertaining read for my Saturday morning haha.....cracked up at some of the responses, what made me laugh was the fact that he assumed the ppl posting Q's did not own or know anything about Chargers.....what a mongol
People like myself who live outside the US and want one these cars spend an obscene amount of time on the net trawling thru as much information as they can get their hands on to get their head around things, not to mention the added cost of getting a car into another Country....
