I think any bids on that car a fake.   There is no way somebody's going to pay $15,000+ for that car.   NO WAY IN HELL!    :rotz:

I just saw the bid was retracted. Look at the bottom for the Q&A  :smilielol:

This guy is on CRACK!

skip68

He probably bid on it thinking it would get the bidding started.

I asked him why he thinks that car is worth $15 grand, heres his answer:

"it still a 69 charger not many left /// if u dont like my price dont bid let me see u buy one for 5000 /// i see 57 bel air bring the same MOUNT SAME CONDTION /// BUT U ARE NOT IN THE CAR BUSINESS AN DONT KNOW CARS LIKE 69 CHARGERS // SO DONT BID DONT LOOK ITS THAT SIMPLE AT LEAST ITS MINE AN YOU DONT HAVE ONE // THESE CHARES ARE HOT CARS"

:smilielol: :smilielol: :smilielol: :icon_bs:

Like I said, somebody needs to give him a reality check, then offer cash.

You should tell him his car is a joke on our site (a Dodge Charger site) from guys that really know these cars..... or Chares.    :smilielol:

I sent him the link to this thread. This guy definatley rode the  :shortbus:

I told him to drop his price to something realistic so someone will save it, or crush it. As long as he owns it all its gonna do is ROT.

It's sad but I think he's looking for that person overseas that don't know the value of these cars.  Somebody he can scam is my guess.  Then again, he may really not know the real value himself.   :shruggy:   That kind of money buys you a entry level running, driving and ok looking car needing some work but nothing major.   Like I said, he's either a scammer or clueless about these cars.   Most of us have bought and sold these cars for years and/or built them so I'm gonna say that makes us experts.    Ebay needs a buyer beware flag for this kind of stuff.   I've seen and heard of crazy people buying at crazy prices but not this bad.  I think he's even priced himself out of the dumb buyers market.   :smilielol: :smilielol: :smilielol: :smilielol:

Bottom line, it's a 318, column shift, green interior, bench seat car with major rust issues.        WOW! What a gem!      Where can I find one of those?

Since guys paying way to much for rusty Charger's have NEVER happened before, I can't imagine it happening now.

He doesnt understand anyone whos specifically looking for a 69 charger likely knows all about them, and what they sell for. I think hes looking for someone whos never seen the car before, falls in love with it, and will pay anything to have it.. But with the 8 other 69's that pop up on ebay, Its never gonna sell. Take in the 22 68-70 cars, and a blind man wouldnt touch this thing.

JB400

I think giving him this link was the best thing for him.  He obviously doesn't understand what he has.  Maybe, he'll log in, ask some questions, and sell his car accordingly.  If he doesn't log in, at least he'll read this thread, and understand what he is asking for is out of reason.

QuoteCommodities aren't consumables. They aren't purchase for use, they are purchased as investments. If I paid $50 for a consumable (car), 50 years ago, and I got my use out of it, it owes me nothing. I got every nickels worth out of it. Why would I expect to turn a profit? The one and only reason we pay what we do for these cars is emotional attachment. Pure and simple. You will not find a person on this planet that will pay up to 30x what it cost new for a 75 charger. Sure some guys buy these cars strictly as investments, but they are the guys that never drive them, they just sit on display.

Not much on the planet was selling for $50 fifty years ago and still sells for $50 today.

There are more US dollars in circulation today for a given amount of goods/services.  So the dollars are worth less.  I'm not sure why that idea is hard to swallow.

Ok so how much are you going to give me for that 1987 RCA tube TV? I paid $40 but I'll take $650 based on your "inflation rules"

Supply and demand dictates the market.

Demand is the key word here. The only reason these cars are in demand is because of our emotional attachment. Its definately not for the amazing fuel economy, plush ride, power ammenaties, or practicallity, its our emotional attachment.

I have to agree, the value is not as an appliance.  Thats why they aren't a depreciating product any longer, their days as an ordinary form of transportation (I use ordinary loosely here) are long over.

pass that shite over here.. :apimp:

I wanted to try and follow Cooters example on these kind of threads but I tend to agree with you.  Some things just get priced beyond a realistic chance.

Its either a "wife says I have to sell" so its a ridiculous number so I can keep it

or

a guy that watches barrett jackson and "this will be a $100,000 plus car when done"

The only thing its only missing "the price will go up the more I do to it"  :smilielol:
