Hey Guys. Long time since I have posted here. Took the 440 out of my 69 Charger R/T to fix a broken exhaust manifold stud and to do general cleaning. Anybody have an idea what this bracket us used for?  Thanks. ChargerRob

Looks like either some A/C thing or a part of a power steering bracket.....judging by the square hole.

maybe some part of a set up to mount the A/C compressor below the alternator  ?   :shruggy:

Whatever it is - It doesn't belong on the back of the engine...  :icon_smile_cool:

Definate add on, does not belong there.

i had one of them brackets on the 69 440  imperial motor in  mine , when i bought it ,
think its to do with a kick down linkage set up on a C-body only  , as its bolted to the rear of driver side cylinder head ,

I was thinking it might have been a kickdown bracket but of all the big blocks I ever pulled out I have never seen any like that? looks like it would have set too far to the left.

Hey guys. Thanks for the replies.  Nothing was bolted to it and I actually never even noticed it. Gonna remove it and save it in case someone ends up needing it.  ;)

Try fitting the holes on the short part of the "L" to a power steering pump. The square hole would be for a 3/8" or 1/2" drive for tightening the drive belt.  :scratchchin:
