Women want A/C , Heat and something that does not smell of Gasoline...I guess she will never ride in my car

My girl owns two convertibles and I own two convertibles..... All the tops go down at the end of Feburary and stay down till mid November. Three of them do have A/C though.

That Coronet is a steal at $7K, wheels or not. I sold a totally trashed 69 coronet 500 convertible with NNM engine and lots of rust a year ago for $3700. It's a pretty rare car.

This car needs a restotation. Since it has beem on the market for at least 6 months it must need floors and frame work or it would be sold. A bunch of people saying it is worth it but the car remains for sale. It has been on other sites for sale as well.

When i see black all around the bottom like that it makes me sceptical.

I thought there was a paint option for the blackout on the bottom of some of those 500's?
Sold my Charger unfortunately....never got it finished.

The black paint below the molding was standard on the 500.

In 1969 maybe, not in 70.

Indygeneralee, have you personally looked at the car out?

No, It's about a 3 hour drive to where the car is located. If it were a bit closer I probably would just for shit's n' giggle's

I have e-mailed the guy before and have never heard back from him.  I guess he does not want to sell it that badly.

He needs to be more specific on what the car needs, floors, quarters, frame rails etc.

The70RT, Have you tried E-mailing him? I really hate when people do not put a phone number on a Craigslist ad because I always have a heck of a time with the E-mail system through Craigslist.

I have sent a few e-mails, not sure why he will not respond.  If it is decent I am ready to run down to Columbus to pick it up.  Kinda hard when he will not respond.

Even with the ad saying it needs a full restoration, I still envision the person buying it starting a thread somewhere bitching, moaning & being shocked when they get it home & find out it needs floors, frame rails, quarters, etc., because they didn't go look at it.

Well, I spoke with the owner today, seemed like a real nice guy.  It does need interior, full quarters, trunk floor, possible floor pans and front and rear frame rails.  He said someone fiber glassed the rear rails, they are bad from the bumper to up over the rear end. The entire front rails are soft as well. I am passing on the car.

I guess it's not even safe to drive, what do you do with a car like this? Too costly to repair and you cant drive it.  :-\

Did that done that with my 68 Charger. :eek2:  Years ago a lot of cars went to the junk yard due to frame rails being bad.  My opinion, if you have someone that can do it, or can do it yourself, it could be just another factor of a restoration.

Based on what the owner said, I would guess that if you bring over anything over $5k cash, he would bite.   AMD frame rails are spot on BTW!  Granted you have about $3k in metal alone, but it's still a low priced rag top.   :2thumbs:

If you have to add all the frame rails, rear quarters, floors and interior, tires and wheels paint etc, you would be way ahead finding something better. Nothing low cost about that, your buying a 318 drive train, front clip and some glass for 7K  :Twocents:

If it does need all that, it definitely isn't worth anywhere near the asking price.  ::)

When I had my '68 Coronet 500 convertible for sale I was asking less than a third of that car & it included all the replacement parts. Mine is in better shape structurally since the rear frame rails are solid, it has a good trunk floor & there is ZERO bondo anywhere on it.

Guess there weren't any offers because it didn't look all shiny.
