test you horn grounding the thin black wire running allong the steering column, on turning switch harness. If you ground the wire there and don't have success making sound the horn, the problem is not on switch or column... not JUST there at least.

The horn relay is plugged at the top of fuse box... is the same devices what buzzes when you insert the key into the ignition switch and open drivers door

Hey since we touched on things buzzing, mine will buzz if key left in & door is open but will not go off if I pull the key out. I have to turn the ignition on, then back off, remove key and then it's good to go. At least that's how I remember. Don't have the car here to confirm it. Normal??

If you can't get the horn to work carry a portable air horn in a can like I do until it's fixed.

Not normal... it mus be buzz when key is in, and stop to buzz when you remove it, inmediatly

some misscontact on switch or ign switch lever ( the one what push in the buzzer switch ) malfunction

OR something related kinda loosen inside

this is the switch what activates the buzzer

and this is the ign switch cylinder... you can see a small lever what push the switch there ( the diagonal piece on bottom ) when key is inserted

Thanks. I'm guessing sticky switch/contacts. Kinda low priority at this point unless it starts buzzing all the time. Got other things to deal with like why the hideaways don't work & fixing leaks but that's for another thread.

I have no buzzing  , no horn . I'm gonna check the fuse today and go from there. Nothing ever works out to be as easy as a fuse . Great pictures Nacho.

Thanks Nacho. I have to look again but I'm certain that the part was not there.

I have been searching for trim and emblems. So far I purchased the trunk lid charger emblem and a used round wreath emblem . I also purchased two charger fender emblems but I still need the arrows. I'm going to bid on a couple of other items also. I'm going to hold off on the front and rear bumper reveal and hood/trunk lip molding.

WOW!! I can't believe the prices on these items. I thought the parts for my  old Chevy cost a lot .until now.

Another thought on the round wreath emblems for the roof . Based on what I saw while looking for chargers, the ( full ) vinyl roof treatments seem to have the words (special addition ) along with the round wreath emblem . I'll have to research it more.

Yeah, it seems to me I've only seen the wreath emblems on SE vehicles as well and I'm thinking Coronets too.  Did they offer a Coronet SE?

Ram07

Thats a cool car..I'd say keep the green interior...something different, looks good  :Twocents:, can't help with the rest... :icon_smile_big:

The Special Edition script is for the '72 version of the SE, '71's didn't get the script just the wreath (not my car).

Very nice car you have by the way, was watching it on eBay.  :2thumbs:

Yeah I meant to mention that Classic Industries sell the fender script as well as the arrow ($59.95 & $34.95) and the trunk badge w/Dodge Division ($37.95) in my old book (2011)
If you find the decklid trim lemme know as I need that as well. I've yet to get the decklid badge. Don't want to pay the shipping for one part & hoping I might come across one at a swap meet or something.

Is there any way to brighten up the colors on the wreaths & arrows other than just painting them? And that wouldn't look to good I'd think.

CDN72se. Thanks for the update and photo. That works out for me because I was not going to  place anything on the roof area .Possibly just the wreath but definitely not the script . I don't really care for how it looks .

Chrome moldings just trap water and create rust.  You don't need them imo.

brigond

Acudanut, yes they do contribute to rust . Once the carrier comes to pick up my old sold Chevy, I will have room in the garage  The charger will not see rain again unless  I'm caught out there.  I'm only going to replace trim that improves the look of the car. I will leave out other trim. I'm sure glad to have one side of the garage. The other side is filled with the  childrens  junk.
