Oil, RAM, & other stuff

Hello all,

     Good to be back... haven't posted since well before the other site went away.  Glad to know we all found a new home.

Anywho, on to the questions...  just bought an '05 Hemi Ram 1500 (okay, 4x4 Quad cab, Big Horn Edition) and changed the oil for the first time yesterday.  Switched it over to a K&N Filter and Mobil 1 synthetic 5w-20.  Question is... book says 7 qts. capacity, what do you other Hemi Ram boys put in?  I've heard 6, and I only drained about 6 1/2 out... no big deal, I'll inch my way up to the 7 just to make sure there are no leaks, just curious what anyone else puts in.

Now, I know some other members have Hemi Rams and that's why I posted here... BUT, this question should really go somewhere else, so my real question is: Where is the "dodgecharger.com" for Dodge Rams?

Obligatory stuff for 'new' registrant - 1969 R/T SE, 440 (446 now), originally F8 green w/ black vinyl top, now repainted (before I bought it) to '90 or '91 Jaguar green, incorrect stripe (for a '70, but still looks good).

That's what the manual and filler cap call out... I was a little surprised myself, being a Hemi.

I put the same  Mobile 1 in my 05 Ram....mine only has the baby V8. I'm pretty happy with it. The K&N filter really seems to help performance.

Hey Mark, I actually work for a Chrysler dealership in the parts dept. and when a Hemi Ram comes in we give the technician 7 quarts of oil but they always say it only takes the 6 1/2 quarts.

Thanks Josh, I appreciate the info.

I got daring and dumped in the other half-quart this morning, we'll see what happens.  I wouldn't think 1/2 quart would qualify as overfill, but with my luck...  I'm not too worried though.  Thanks again.
