Good work Ron! I almost had a good idea once... :shruggy:

Actually, I would totally be behind that. I wonder how we would go about it? I bet it would attract a lot of members.  :2thumbs:

Not a bad idea, this a great site but I have a lot of questions and sometimes can't get answers when others w basically the same question w a 68 has 30 responses.
This is primarily a 68-69 site with the 1st and 3rd gen guys getting little to no respect.

I'm going to be the bad guy here what with owning a 1st gen and all but I feel about that the same way as I do about a separate GL board, too much diversity.  I can see a need for the aero one only because those cars are so highly specialized and a niche core of fans who trade in the Ford products with as uch excitement as the Mopar stuff.  There seems to be a focused interest there on a specific era of stock car racing as much as anything so they do kind of exist in a different world.  If there is a 1st gen board then there may as well be a 3rd gen one and a 4th, 5th and 6th.  In spite of the reputation I have as a "hater" with a few members of the GL community (which is hugely wrong btw) I think there is more to be gained with a common Charger board than setting up a bunch of separate areas where no one is going to learn about the other groups.  There is for sure a huge worship here for 2nd gens and some of those guys will throw out the brain dead Marlin comments or the misinformed one about how its just a Coronet with a fastback but I think there is a silent majority that even though they might not own one, don't mind learning about them.  I think if there were a separate area that that same crowd wouldn't bother much to go check it out.
Thats just my opinion though.

You're not a bad guy at all.  :2thumbs:
I guess more than anything, it would be nice to at least have a separate tech section. As you know, these cars are really animals unto themselves and sometimes specialized advice is required. For the most part, the GL and aero cars are basically the same as the typical 2nd gen and much of the parts, tech advice, etc. crosses over. Maybe even to the 3rd gen cars too, but I'm not sure about that. Probably 90% of the tech posts on this site pertain to the 2nd gen, so a 1st gen guy looking for some info (or a 1st gen guy looking to help someone) has to wade through hundreds of posts to find anything useful. The 1st gen guys, the way I see it, tend to be more interested in the technical aspect of the cars as opposed to the social side of a forum in general. At least that's how it is on the 66-67charger site.  :shruggy:

For the record, Troy isn't interested in adding another board, not even a tech board. I asked when the topic for the general lee tech board was brought up.  Only reason the Aero guys get their own board is because it generates enough visitors on a regular basis.  I think if we each had our own section, we'd end up more like moparts. Moparts is more divided up by vehicle than just grouped together like we are here.  I like things the way they are.

Ghoste

There are quite a few of the other car forums split up like that.  Mopar Style is almost to the point of dividing models by year and color.  I may well be in the minority but I realy like the generic approach of this one.  It's just Chargers.  To be sure we've segregated ourselves and we pick on late model LX Chargers or 5th gens or whatever, hey we even argue among the vaunted 2nd gen as to which year is best and why green is a terrible shade (I like green btw and offically for the record before I start to get pm hate mail from someone who only reads the handful of words they need to from an incorrect opinion of me).  But in the end its really about the model name and what it has come to represent over the decades.  (the marketing people were successful for once) :Twocents:

JB400

Now, when have you ever gotten hate mail over a color ofa 2nd gen charger?

Ghoste

I haven't yet but I've sure gotten it for other things that weren't true.   (and some that are but those crosses I will carry  ;) )

GPULLER

I like the board just the way it is.  I like to come over here and see how the other half live!  ;D

gibber

Me too, its a great site and one of these days I will have a 2d gen Charger, when my bank account allows for it...:)
