not a transmission person but im guessing i need a plug here with some wires. i tried the search function but it came up with were to buy the plug. so if the plug is under the car some where would it be located. and if i need a new one were would i route the wires to exactlly

That's a nuetral safety switch.  You need a NSS pig tail.  You can find them at most auto stores (advanace/autozone).

The harness goes from wiper connection plug on firewall to transmission plug.At the plug the 1 pins for safety switch and 2 pins for reverse lights for power and lights. Brown wire to starter relay.

The NSS pictured is pre-'78, many stores carry the pigtail that works only on the '78 and later.
