After putting in my new tranny, I went to tighten the torsion bars back up. The drivers side is butted up to the adjusting bolt, but the passenger side is up against the frame rail.

Do I need to take the mount off again and turn itso it is against the bolt or will it adjust itself when I lower the car?

Right now there is about an inch between the the two.

i think you need to back out the t-bars and equalize the socket in the LCA.

Dmichels

you need to re index the bar so the adjuster is in the right place

I've seen this on a couple of 73/74 Charger transmission replacement queries here. Do you really need to remove the rear anchor to replace the trans in the later cars?

Thanks, I just realized what I did wrong. I turned the torsion bar the wrong way, as I was reinstalling, in other words I twisted it to my left, which released it from the bolt, instead pushing it tight, leave it to me given a 50-50 chance to screw it up. LOL

Yes, on 73/74 you have to remove the torsion bars, especially if you are switching to a 46rh, from a 727.

I haven't done any kind of overdrive swap, but on the factory 727's and 904's I've never had to pull the torsion bars on my '73.
Remember the average response time to a 911 call is over 4 minutes.

The average response time of a 357 magnum is 1400 FPS.

46rh is longer than a 727 and I did not take the torsion bars out, I took the torsion bar mount off and yes the mount has to come off, as I was doing this in my garage and needed the extra room.

Yea I did that on my 73 to install the A518.
