The funny cars were looking for all the rear downforce they could get otherwise they'd blow the tires off.  That's the reason for the wing in front of the rear tires and the extra tall spoiler on the back.  Tires then weren't what they are now.

I'm all in favor of you posting more   I can't speak for anyone else.  I have more pics to post from my camera, but haven't heard anything.  I for one, enjoy seeing vintage racecars of any kind.  I don't stick to just mopar, but they are my favorite.

That 4th gen Charger one is sure an unusual Funny.

i like the chopped top of the 1st gen "headhunter" in the first set or so

and the fact that there is a 1st gen "kennedy dodge charger" is a sign to me that i picked the right generation after all

Do a lot of these cars still exist? I can't recall seeing them at big event car shows like the Nats, etc. Drache, thanks for posting all the pics.  I love looking at theses old cars. The color schemes are sweet! It would be cool to go to a drag race that had these cars competing again for nostalgia sake.

Some of them are the same car with a different paint scheme such as the 1st gen Mr. Norm and the Color Me Gone one.  Others were rebodied into something else but I think many of them have been long chopped up or sold off.  They led a hard life.
Some are still around though, that pink 1st gen Color Me Pink one is from the St Johns Concours a couple of years ago.  And of course there are still some lurking behind shops awaiting discovery.

if your on the east coast you have a much better chance of seeing them at nostalga drags, i don't think they make full power passes though due to safety and risk

i heard that they come to bakersfield, ca once a year but don't have anymore info on it, i need to look into it

the paint jobs were so awesome back then, nowadays its just sponsor decals
