I know most people here are Mopar focused, nothing wrong with that, but I myself find a lot of brand X's appealing,so with that I want to share something with the forum that I enjoyed being part of a build.A good friend of mine owns a custom paint/resto shop, and when times are slow from my regular career,I go there to work. This past year was I was there more than my reg job, lol, and took part in a bunch of different projects ,but this one I found very cool, building a 67 Mustang Eleanor convertible. He got a 67 Mustang in for a client that owns a classic car dealership that consigns cars to BJ Scottsdale and Palm Beach.
The client bought the car and just wanted it assembled(just had a quicky bodyshop paint job done),when we went to pick it up,we were far from impressed of the quality to say the least and showed the client numerous parts of the car that just won't appeal,and/or net him what he thinks to be worth while profit.
At first it was a block it down, fix areas,repaint/sand/buff and assemble. Then the client brainstormed, and said, build an Eleanor vert!!!!Unfortunately he opted to purchase the cheapest parts of all the diff vendors kits for the build, and thus was a nightmare for us fitting, attaching, making straight, etc. To make it even more labor intensive,he did not want it like almost all Eleanors,he wanted all the parts when attached, smoothed in,not appearing like they were just stuck on like Bushwacker flares, end caps on the quarters, etc. Also, stripes to go right down the firewall.
I can't even begin to type the amount of cutting, stretching, bodywork, etc needed to these  parts straight and to make them properly fit this car.TONS !!!!!There were a few of us on this car,and the hours were racking up to say the least. Compared to the usual resto work we do,this was more like sculpting 101 !!!
Sadly, the client was getting nervous of the rising cost and was thinking already to be in the negative with this endeavor. At this point he wanted us to just finish the body/paint/sand/buff/rear/front suspension and he would take it that way and have his guys assemble it.It was slated to roll accross the stage at BJ Scottsdale this Jan.The was finished a month or so ago, went into his websites inventory, with a price, but stating it was going to BJ.
Unfortunately won't get to see it pass across the stage,it sold from his dealship already.
I really liked the car, would'nt mind building one for myself(never happen though),but would be a hardtop like the movie, not a vert. Now I see why these cars bring good money at these auctions, ebay, etc ,not a weekend build by any means.
Not a Mopar, but figured some might have interest.

I have to say the car looks nice.  You and the crew done a good job :2thumbs: For me though, I'd have to have the fastback.  Like the 2nd gen Charger was for Dodge, the 67/68 fastback Mustang was the one car Ford did right.  Foose done a good job on his customization of it to make Eleanor.

Paul, that is the car I would sell my Charger for without looking back.   I like the hardtops a bit better but the convertible is a nice touch

Curious to hear how much it sold for?

Wouldn't mind having that in my stable either, if a Mustang was in the plans that is.

Really a nice car, great job!  :2thumbs:

Thanks guys, there were a few of us on this car,my friend who owns the shop is the one that painted it,hands down he can out paint me any day of the week, sometimes he makes it look to easy when he is spraying. When I got involved I was asigned the hood, and OMG,what a POS !!!!Birdbath city in the fiberglass, wavy edges, height of it compared to the fenders,up and down.So many hours were put into the hood alone to get it to be aligned to   the fenders to make it appear like it was a steel hood. Then other guys smoothed the inside to make that look real nice.
Fit on the ground effects, front flares, and front Shelby nose.No provisions what so ever to mount the upper nose headlight piece, had to fab brackets.NTM,that piece had to be sliced into 3 pieces to make it fit the fenders and hood.
The flares were challenging to say the least,to get all 4 of them  uniform and smoothed in to appear like they were steel like the body and look like they were stamped in from the factory, not just glued on top like a typical flare. But,the entire smoothing of all the Eleanor pieces were def frustrating.
Then paint, sanding buffing and off she went.Whoever the shop was that did the assembly did a great job to,they completed it in 2 months.
Overall,aggrevating to build,but a lot of fun to !!!!!

Hard to believe this car is still around and even runs, but I like them both.

Beautiful car. . thanks for posting.  :2thumbs:

I am open to just about any brand.  You would miss out on so much if a person just stuck with a Mopar.
