Just cause you guys think your garabge is worth 20 grand doesnt mean the rest of the sane world does.

Obviously, you haven't been paying attention to the pricing lately...Simply because someone is broke and can't afford that Mercedes, doesn't mean these types are the new "Trend". It simply means, you can't afford it. While some cars are "Overpriced" for what they seem to be, Labor is labor, paint and materials still cost money, sheet metal still costs money. Last time I checked, no one is looking to lose money come time to sell. Only thing bothers most is they usually do sell eventually. All you have to do is wait out the broke people. It's usually a 50 to one ratio. Meaning, you have to go through 50 lawballin', can't afford the fuel, let alone the car, people to get to the one that has the cash.

I'd agree.   There are obviously wayyyy overpriced cars out there, and those selling them are a combination of people who are unrealistic (the ubiquitous 'put 5K into this car and it'll be worth 3x as much.  What, why am I not doing that? Uhhh...') or are testing the market to see if someone impulse buys without doing research.    What they actually sell for is usually much less than the initial asking price after time/reality set in.    Those who can't sell a rustbucket for 30K will either get realistic and lower it, or  just sit on it and hope that one day Jay Leno will show up with a bankroll.

My only rub on here is cars that, given a few months, very likely will sell for good money being talked about as being worth half what they're listed for. The word 'worth' is very important.  Again, something is only worth what someone will pay for it, and just because one person would only give 5K doesn't mean someone else won't give 10K for the same car.    Then there are cars that nobody will give 50K for, and that means universally that they're not worth 50K.   Any price within the realistic range of what someone will show up and pay for in a given circumstance/time period can be said to be acceptable as what the car is 'worth'. I personally wouldn't give 500 bucks for an 82 Honda, but that doesn't mean it's only worth 500 bucks on the open market, just 500 to me.

I'm glad a lot of guys on this board are helpful and give useful input, and this is a great community overall, but the amount of smugness on here is sickening.   If I wanted to read condescending posts by douchebags I'd go to a wine tasting forum and hang out with the half-assed hipsters there.

Then, you better simply leave the internet all together, as there's at least one in every croud. Especially, when the "Put down every car that's being offered for sale, even though I personally am gonna hide behind the "Helping out potential buyers" thing, when in reality, I'm so pissed that someone might actually make a few dollars on a car that's clearly worth every penny, that I just HAVE TO add in my .02 people begin to post.

Yeah, if you don't want to hear sh*t you don't want to hear, Lemme know when you find that Utopia, as I been looking for it for a long time.

Hey now, we are much better douchebags than those wine'rs!  And most of us are quarter assed to boot.
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

I wonder if that Utopian website exists in a parallel universe someplace where right now someone is  complaining about the fact that everything someone asks what a car is worth everybody posts what an awesome steal it is and that its grossly underpriced and likely the most perfect example of that car ever and they are going to contact the seller and tell him to raise the price quickly.

Have a look at this thing..

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1969-Dodge-Charger-/221168256228?pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item337ea7c4e4

What the hell is this guy on? Thats a 5K charger. "Price will go up the more I do to it" Thats gonna be a $75k car after he gets it running and his precious turbine wheels on it  :smilielol:

If I remember right, this car was on CL for $10,000. Now eBay for $16,000??? It didn't sell for ten so why would it sell for more? And I just love a one picture add. They must not want to sell it too bad or they would post more than one picture of it.
1969 Charger 383/auto
1969 Charger R/T 440/auto (waiting to be restored)
1972 Chevelle SS clone 383 sbc
1959 Chevy Apache short bed stepside
1968 Charger (glorified parts car)
Yes, I know I have too many cars. My wife reminds me daily.

I rarely look at these links, but obviously, this guy doesn't know a darn thing about our cars.  Special ordered with turn signal holes in the hood and a 383 4bbl. A clueless idiot looking to sell to a clueless buyer.  Do some damn research.

1974dodgecharger

Emailed seller he told me these GLs r special order direct from dodge.  He is a flipper for sure does not know a lick of these cars

It never ceases to amaze me...This place of all places should be happy these cars aren't selling for peanuts. Yet, everybody here wants them for nothing... Maybe there is a place like Ghoste describes? Maybe that place is reallity, and all the tire kickers are living in an alternate reallity as almost every ad I see posted here seems to have that universal theme. Still asking what folks here consider too much. Maybe the folks here are the Lowballers??? Maybe they should leave?

If you guys think this site has it bad you havent been around the internet much... this site is that utopia compared to some others Im on.

F8-4life

And also dont confuse someones internet "post" with actual reality or some die hard opinion...people play around on the internet, thats just how it is. Then others get upset because of the bs..Ive been on both sides of it adnd their is literally no winner. The problem is people take things personally thru their own veiwpoint when they read something but guess what...maybe the other poster, posted his thoughts in a general sense, or in response to someone else entirally. NObody really cares much about some random guys opinion on the web, the problem starts when said opinion clashes with our own

MOPARTS....
" I have spent thousands of dollars and countless hours researching what works and what doesn't and I'm willing to share"

Ghoste

I don't care whether these cars are worhtless or priceless as long as I can still play.  I do however have a huge problem with people wanting giant money for pos or advertising them with bs like "this GL was special ordered from Dodge".  Lets just say that Abraham Lincoln was a muslim and Osama Bin Laden was actually Elvis Presely getting his revenge on the US for getting rid of his pal Nixon.  One lie is as valid as the next.

Dino

Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

Ghoste

That takes work Dino, just make up any old thing.  Whatever it takes to sell the car.

Dino

I think the best way to sell a car for a lot of dough is to make a huge dent in the car and claim it resembles Jesus or whoever it was they found on that piece of toast several years back.  If you can get $28K for a piece of Jesus toast you should be able to make a few hundred grand on a Jesus car!
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

Ghoste

Elvis stains on the interior are good too, not as good as Jesus toast but not bad either.

Cooter

You gotta admit, Somebody got paid for that "Jesus toast". Why not get paid for a bogus car? I mena, one born every minute right? Don't hate the Playa' and all that jazz.
