69 spare tire placement

When Mounting the spare in the trunk of a 69 charger, did they come front side up or down?  I think it is front side down but not for sure.  Thanks!

not 100% , but I believe it's valve stem down

Great !!!!!! Can I get a tie breaker?  I know it was mounted in my 68 stem down, but I don't know if it had ever been out.  In the jack instructions it looks like it may be up but it's not conclusive.  with this much confusion I can go either way.

always thought stem down   but could well be up also  as if body color steel wheels ! could stratch them  up side down

If you look at the trunk jack decal, I am pretty sure that it was mounted valve stem facing inward towards the floor.  Otherwise the retaining stud would not be tall enough.

Obviously if some of us have them stem side up our studs must reach ...dontcha think?

I wonder if I can just wedge it in sitting up right   I went ahead and mounted the tire with the white walls in and will mount it with the white letters up.  I guess if it is not correct about 1/2 the people will still think it is

I remember the redline radials you had on the 4 tires.  I always figured that you would have had a matching spare.  Guess I guessed wrong.

Stem up makes the most sense to me. They are all installed that way in my cars. Otherwise, it would make checking the air pressure in your spare somewhat of a pain, don'tcha think??
