The new e-brake cable I got came with a firewall grommet but no grommet for the spot where it goes through that brace piece in the lower inner fender area. Is that the way it is supposed to be or is there something out there to isolate it from rubbing on the sheet metal?

no , not a grommet as far as i know  ,

wondered about that too , what i done was cut a slit in a short length of fuel pipe smeared grease inside & slid it down as a bushing / grommet   ,

actually i done this  with all fuel & brake pipes too going through frame rails etc   over kill yes but i'm nutts like that  ::)

Makes it easier to install it.

How hard can it be with a slit cut down it lengthways? :shruggy: Just sayin'.

Some people could have more trouble than others.  I don't know, but it might also help from keeping it from rusting.

yep  S4W  nailed it  ,  to stop any moisture rusting the cable etc  &  to help it slide on ,   when i answered  put grease in it ,  forgot it was just only for the cable in the picture i posted  , cause i done the same with fuel lines & brake line through frame rail , also  i have torque boxes , so lubricating the inside of the rubber pipe helped it slide right through  :yesnod:
