I have a 1966 Charger 383 auto. I am considering a front disc brake upgrade, I should also note a buddy who is a front end specialist said I should replace upper control arms at the same time if doing the upgrade. I am looking for input on what brand, model to buy etc. Should I replace control arms as well. Are both available as a kit? My budget is not limited but I do not want to overspend either.

All of the wear parts in the UCA are replacable, I see no reason to replace the entire unit unless you're looking to change the geometry. I would question your "specialist" further on the "why" of his recommendation.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

Hard Charger

I just picked up a MBM disk system off eBay. real good price $439 and free shipping. slotted and drilled rotors. i have the same kit in my challenger and they work great.
i just broke down my front end and will be replacing everything.

i broke my press taking off the bushings on the UCA, needed to buy a socket for the ball joint and i am at 5 hours cleaning the arm itself. i still need to get the bushing install tool. so at more than $100 so far on the first one i would seriously consider a re-pop at about $75 each done. that is if you stay factory.

in the challenger i bought the tubular arms from Mancini. i followed the directions (wrong) for the Him joint positioning and had to take apart and readjust to get the arm closer to being correctly aligned. That really sucked on a car that is done. not sure that if i had to do it again i would.
