These overpriced cars are not overpriced to the owners.  They just expect to cover 100%+ of the labor cost that it took to have a shop restore their car.

yeah thats true , fair point , but  for that kind of dough the car should be near as damn it  perfect  being  L code ,  see lots of iffy bits , like what the other guys say   :2thumbs:, but what else have they cut corners on  :scratchchin:  ,  you only got to look at the body on a wurly jig thingy , to paint the under side  ,  why leave the emergency brake cable in & paint it red  :shruggy: yeah we all know getting the clip out , it a pain  , & its normaly destroyed  , but  how much is a new one ,  :shruggy:  yearone $6.99

If I was the owner I'd love to get 3x what the car is worth too.  Why blame him for trying?  There doesn't seem to be anything really fraudulent here.

Plenty of rich guys have more money than brains.  Plenty of other rich guys can fall for a certain car and knowingly overpay for it.

I'm sure he knows what it's worth and is just testing the waters. Sometimes they see what the high bidder does then contacts them afterwards to strike a deal without eBay.

Personally, I'd say that there are more rich guys with brains than without. I'd also venture to say that many rich guys set their sights higher than a run of the mill 68 Charger R/T. To me, it's the seller who's lacking a certain amount of gray matter since he's advertising a car that's lacking the details that could really spruce it up. Not to mention who in their right mind advertises a high dollar car with unvacuumed floors. Sheesh!

Ghoste

JB400

Pricing it at $85 g's keeps out the riff raff.  Serious people with serious money are going to be serious when it comes to buying a car.  Profit is probably a minor thing with this seller.  Sure he wants to make a profit, but pricing it high keeps out the stupid people unless they have money, then they will be the likely ones to buy it.

Someone who wants to show it's driven instead of trailered. I know a bunch of folks that do that for that very reason. Just cause the floors are clean don't make it worth anymore money. The fact that it is driven, and we know it will run longer than on and off the trailer means the world to some folks.

The logic is to ride 350 miles in a/c comfort when it's 100 degrees outside.

JB400

I'm sorry, but I'm with Cooter on this one. :2thumbs:  Trailer queens are fine in all, and command some respect for someone wanting to protect thier investment, but I think there are more people that respect a classic car more if it's driven more than 50 yards.  Having a/c is nice, and I would be one to want to enjoy it; but if I had to choose between the two, I'd throw in an extra shirt and put on more deodorant and roll the windows down.  Use the extra stops to get a drink as an extra excuse to show it off at the convienience stores.  If the lady of the house wants to ride in a/c, that's fine; let her be the sissy. :2thumbs:

But, it would be more appropriate to at least respect your ride a little bit and clean it up.

Homerr

The more they argue, the more I realize I fall in-between.  I would like a driver that I keep clean, not an objet d'art.   :icon_smile_wink:

However, I agree that in this price range (even if not worth it) a car should be presented in 'show' condition - so vacuum the damn carpets!

Mytur is 100% right.  Cooter is 100% wrong.  This place is still normal.  :nixon:

Cooter do I detect a slight hint of sarcasm there?
