Did 1968 B-body cars with 318 engine and Automatic transmission come with a 727 or 904?

904 was standard with the 318 but the 727 was an option.

The 904 was the first aluminum case TF, it was introduced in 1960 (two years before the 727). They were originally called TorqueFlite 6 and TorqueFlite 8....the was TF6 used only behind the /6 until '64.

When the 904 was first used behind the 273 V8 in '64 the term TF6 no longer applied and the current terms were adopted.

The TF6 terminology is still used by many parts makers because it covers all of the 904 variations like 904, 998, 999, 30RH, 31RH, 32RH.
