:o   There were a couple nuts that interrupted by holding signs that said that it's the NRA's fault for the shootings.    :flame: :brickwall:  What kind of retard really thinks that way.  I wish these anti-gun nuts would put their energy into something that would really make a difference.  Wheather you like guns or not everybody knows it will be impossible to get rid of them.  So what can we do to protect our children right now? TODAY!??????  That's what the NRA is saying.  We have armed security protecting our money (banks), sports games and so on.  Why don't we protect our children?  We can talk gun control later as it will be talked about..... we can try and find new ways to find these types of killers before they strike.....but, for right now we need to protect the schools at all cost.  That's the basics of it all.  Until we figure out what can realistically be done this is what MUST be done.   I fully agree and I'm not a member of the NRA, Just a parent.

just what we need armed gaurds at school may as well have the tsa there too

Now look, no matter what precautions we take, there will always be someone that gets through the loopholes and commit this crime again.  There will never be just one simple solution to this complex problem.  There is only one person to blame for this tragedy and he is dead.  Feel free to ban this and ban that and add more characters into the equation all you want, but if someone wants to do it, they're going to do it.  What needs to be done is to get the media to quit popularizing it.  Criminals should lose their identity.

skip68

We've got to do something... Don't you agree?   Can anybody give me a "REALISTIC" solution that will be instant starting today, right now?  I bet the kids will feel a lot safer and better.  I know I would.  It's just common sense when you see schools targeted to beef up security.  What is so bad about having an officer at a school?   :shruggy:   The kids already know what's happening to schools and are wanting to know who's going to protect them.   I'm pretty sure most rational parents will agree.

Feeling safer and being safer are too different things.

Schools already have a hard enough time financially as it is, how are they going to pay for the guards, especially in the inner cities?  Not saying I disagree with you, just that it won't be that simple.
Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups.  Especially if they have access to the internet.

I'm honestly suprised at the backlash towards the idea of having officers in schools.  Every school I ever attended had a police officer on site.
Remember the average response time to a 911 call is over 4 minutes.

The average response time of a 357 magnum is 1400 FPS.

When I was in school, there was an officer in every school.  Has things changed?

skip68

I agree with you it won't be easy.   Somehow our wonderful country finds hundreds of millions or billions of dollars protecting other countries and their children.   I'm sure we can find the way here.   Everyone agrees something must be done right now so people need to stop pointing fingers from the sidelines and come up with a instant solution.   Can't get rid of guns, violent movies, violent video games and anything else that people are blaming by tomorrow.   So, I say quit focusing on the problems and focus on the most immediate solution. We are on a sinking ship and I'm sick of hearing why we're sinking.   "They keep shooting holes in the ship, this guys not doing his job and it's his fault, this ship wouldn't be sinking if we banned the types of cannons they're using etc, etc, etc."  Instead, I think we need to look at the crew and say " I know, there's a lot of things we need to change but for right now at this moment we need to stop the ship from sinking and loosing anymore lives and block the bullets / cannon balls."

Instead of just talking about it, how about you DO something about it?  Contact your representative or senator and tell them about it.  Remember, they work for you.  My message has already been sent. :2thumbs:

in isreali schools they have m-16s in the principals office and the staff is trained to use them no problem there. can't do this here

I have been an NRA member off and on for years. They are a responsible organization who constantly get battered by the liberal left. They do more for personal safety than any other organization. Training, children's gun safety programs, etc. A very good point was made in the speech that I am linking to. We have armed guards protecting our money, protecting our president and politicians, protecting our sports arena's, than why are we not as serious about protecting our children? The cost of security is not more important than our children's safety. It pisses me off to hear people complain about the cost. If we the people can afford to protect the president and politicians, than we the people can afford to protect our children! What is truly despicable is how the media and the liberal left is using this tragedy to move forward there anti gun agenda, truly despicable! At the end of this conference the NRA explains about a program they are funding that can be used as an outline for school safety and security.

The press conference is a long watch, but worth it.

The people that do this kind of thing, dont give a hoot what the law says in the first place. So these new laws are more just restricting law-obiding citizens basically. I didnt read this thread but, most of this talk is a knee jerk reaction to the reacent shooting (of course). So they are basically judging a entire country of gun owners by one asshat that had mental problems?? No need to worry about the end of the world (lol), people are doing a pretty good job of f ing it up already.

Regretfully you are right. Armed guards protecting the children is exactly what we need.

The school in Sandy Hook was a gun free zone. I know where I would want my kids attending.

Those nuts holding up signs sayings its the NRA's fault are everywhere. last tuesday or wed, i cant remember which it was, i was at walmart. as I'm getting into my truck some nut from 2 aisles over called me a killer, and said that I deserved to be "shot in the face with the rest of those NRA a$$holes who caused this shooting" Clearly he saw the big NRA sticker in the back window, and the anti obama bumper sticker. Reeeeally nice. Made me feel all sorts of loved. But he failed to realize something, how would they shoot me and the other NRA members in the face if they ban all the guns? hmmmm...... :nana:

My little cousin was killed in drunk driving accident earlier this year. Now, is it Chevy Avalanche's fault (which drunk driver was driving) or Acura TL's fault (which my aunt was in)?
You see it's person who's using said instrument to kill someone, whether it'd be gun, car, alcohol, etc.
Let's not blame society for one's mistakes.

We've got all these military reservists who are supposed to serve one week a year, right? Why not figure out a way to rotate those guys out to serve one week guarding a local school during the 43-week school year? I know there wouldn't be enough of them but it help share the workload and cost. We're already paying them. :shruggy:

Lots of people in Israel are packing. The place is surrounded by wackjobs and it's probably safer there than it is in Wyoming.

Back N Black

So, what happens when the next shooter takes out the armed guard and continues killing?
More guards? maybe a couple of sniper's on the roof? where does it end?  :shruggy:
