69 Charger Dash Wiring Questions

I have posted here a few times in the past and received a lot of help, so hoping the same will will happen again.

I bought my Charger in 2000 when I retired from the military, but many moves to find employment since then have resulted in a very long term restoration.  So long, that I have forgotten where some of the things I took off the car in 2000 to start the rebuild go now that I am putting it back together.  I finally am in a position to continue with the re-assembly and have my dash in the basement to start putting it back together.  I am now faced with more than a few wires coming off the harness and fuse panel that I need to identify before I put the whole assembly back into the car.

The car is a 69 Charger RT/SE with a lot of options, so I have a lot of connections to make to the harness. This photo is of several wires that are coming right off the fuse panel, or seem to come off the harness towards the passenger side of the dash.  Any help with the following would be appreciated.

Arrow 1 - No clue what this is supposed to lead to.
Arrow 2 - I believe that this is for the Tic Toch Tach
Arrow 3 - Is this a resistor?  Does it just hang free, or does it normally have a dash mounted bracket it clips into?
Arrow 4 - What is this yellow wire for?
White Arrow - Does this connect to the top of the heater box?

Anyone have a pic of their dash from the back that might help?

Thanx,
Mike

hi Mike  , R/T SE eh  :drool5: , would love to see pictures sometime  :yesnod:   whats the color combo ?

if your harness is stock OEM type & not been altered in anyway  , below is what goes where  :yesnod:

Arrow 1 = for dome light & console lights , runs down to behind the driver side kick panel ,
Arrow 2 = tack wiring , blue switched power from accessory terminal in fuse box , gray goes to the minus side of ignition coil
Arrow 3 = ignition switch light thermo timer relay , dont think it clips up in the dash anywhere ,
Arrow 4 =  goes to the ignition switch light
white arrow headlamp on warning buzzer  , last three pictures

(( the heater box resistor connector has dark green , light green &  brown wires or if you  have A/C a tan wire too ))

Tan Top, You Da Man!

Thank you for the fast reply.  With your info I was able to connect the headlamp buzzer, center console wiring, ignition switch lamp, and label my tach wiring for future connection to my aftermarket tach.
Some additional questions of course.

1. Any idea which dash frame hole should be used to attach the headlamp buzzer relay.  There are two existing holes in the immediate area, but neither looks like a slam duck fit with the buzzer proportions.
2. I have a set of paired pink wires, and a single white wire that come off the main harness as the first split off the main harness after the bulkhead connector.  Are these for the brake pedal switch?
3.  Also have 3 plain brown wires, and another brown wire with a white tracer that come off the main harness just behind the washer switch.  After the main plug end is connected to the wiper switch, there are 2 blade connectors still open, and then there are 2 connectors that are available on the back of the washer switch.  Which wires connect to each of the connections?

I have attached a pic of the car on the day I bought it in Virginia.  It is a triple black RT/SE, that had everything with it except the original 440 engine.  The car was in and out of 4 different body shops over 6 years as I had this uncanny knack for selecting body shops that were soon to go out of business, or had an owner that was soon to develop severe medical conditions.  That snafu, and constant moves back across the country forced the mothballing of the restoration.  Now that I am forced to break off my house exterior rehab because of colder weather, I am resurrecting my Charger project and will re-assemble my dash, hideaway light/grill, and center console over the next few months.

Here is the car when I still had it in Indiana, and the body work was finally finished.  A lot more is done on the car today, but I have the pics on a different computer.

charger   looks awesome  :yesnod:  thanks for the pictures

1  my headlamp buzzer was fitted  next to the fuse box    , with screw from under the bottom lip of dash ,  not sure if this is correct location    , but thats how i found it before the resto , so put it back ( sure i have seen it in another location , but cant remember , although choice is limmited , due to lenght of the black wire with white tracer   :shruggy: , see picture below , ignore the green arrow , was for another thread ,   see yellow arrow

2  yes your correct by the sound of it  , with out seeing a picture , double pink in one connection & a single white wire  , is the brake light switch ,

3  yes your correct  , the brown wire with a black connector with a knotch out of it , goes to the wiper switch  , thats the power supply to the washer switch
see second picture &

I'm down to the last couple of dash wiring questions.

I believe that the wiring at the bottom of this pic is for the power windows connections on the driver side.  One end of the red wire looks to have an end that piggy backs on the fuse panel connections.  The other end of the same red wire has a terminal end that looks like it should go on a post like the ammeter connection.  Then there are the two tan wires that go to the (fuse?), a small diameter tan wire that to 2 different 2 connection terminal ends (one black/one grey), and then a single connection on a longer tan wire.

The wiring at the top of the pic I have no clue about at all.

Any ideas or info?

Thanx,
Mike

Thanx Tan Top!

I finally had time to put all the answers in to effect today (I designated this a car dash work day).  I am down to wiring in the aftermarket gauges now.

New question: In my desire to not hack up my new dash wiring harness, I am wiring in the Auto Meter Gauges into the existing original type connector ends wherever I can.  I have taken the 5-wire instrument sender pigtail that normally connects to the back of the original cluster and run individual connections from the gauges to each of the leads.

I have one black wire left on this pigtail which the wiring diagram identifies as a 12 volt feed. Can anyone tell me if this wire will suffice as the sender source for the new Voltmeter I have in the cluster?

Note: I have bypassed the original Ammeter and joined the wires together already.

aftermarket gauges look good  :yesnod:

yeah run the volt meter from the black wire  ,

that black wire runs to the multisplice from the black wire from the alternator  , & goes to accessory side of fuse box , headlamp switch & ignition switch ,
i by passed my amp meter also & converted it to a volt meter , but got carried away , went inside the new M&H dash harness & removed that splice along with the thick red & black to the amp meter altogether &  run a new thick gauge wire from starter switch to  separate fuse box &  three separate thicker gauge wires one to ignition one to accessory fuse box & one to headlamp switch  , what started out as the (MAD) amp meter by pass , escalated one thing lead to another ,   :P protected every thing with maxi & standard blade fuses ,
