For any who want to see how I did it yesterday, here are a few pics of the short comings of the Pacesetter brand Headers for these trucks. While not a $1000/set they are fairly priced and fit "ok". I think the "Jig" they have set up puts too much bend angle where they come down under truck. Pacesetter claims to install them from UNDER truck. I found it much easier to install from top.

I had to make up a bracket to hold the driver's side off the front driveshaft when on the ground. The pass, side had to be tweaked a little for more clearance at the Servo housing part of trans case. Overall, I'd reccomend them to anyone looking to boost Fuel Economy. Mine did pretty good on MPG (As that's why they were installed).

Looks good Cooter.  Also noticed the change in sigs, pretty funny stuff there

Thanks Stroker. Yeah, pretty happy with results. Think it made enough of adifference in MPG to make it worth the extra expense. Not to mention the added torque from Loing tubes. Getta try and sqeeze as much MPG out of this 8800 LB beast as I can.

Next, I think I'll try and Programmer from like SCT. That combined with this should bump MPG on the highway. BTW, your car is coming along nicely. Hard to get started when your working 24/7. I know this all too well. If I can help in any way, you be sure and lemme know.

I've never owned anything but a MoPar. Can you say that?

Did you consider dual pipes all the way back?

Yes, but here in the land of Coo-Coo Clocks and Cheese, we cannot have Dual cats and "true" dual exhaust if the vehicle came from factory with a "Y" pipe and single converter. Won't pass State inspection.

I suppose you couldn't do the inspection yourself :D

Well........No. If they catch you putting your own SI sticker on your own vehicle here, your DRIVER's license as well as your SI license is subject to being suspended pending a "Hearing". Then, you have to have basically, an act of Congress to even re-apply for it. Then, you lose your job, because without an SI license, you are worthless even if you can fix/repair cars.

As long as the cat(s) are not clogged a factory single exhaust isn't going to make too much of a hindrance.

This is true enough, as the single exhaust BEHIND that restrictive 2" "Y" pipe, is about 2 1/2"-2 3/4" pipe all the way to the back.

If I remember correctly, I believe he said he has a 99 Ram

Cooter

Yep, 99 Ram 2500 4WD.

Next is CAI. (Cold Air Intake). Not a big fan of these systems as most are nothing more than Hot air intake sytems where they mount the filters, but then again, so are the nice, shiney Chrome units many of us run on our cars here.

Do you have your truck lifted with oversized tires or are you running stock suspension/tires?

Well, as far as I can tell (As I'm NO 4WD Guru. I just own the truck for bad weather and towing my junk), it has stock suspension with maybe one size up in tire size. Equivilant to like a 31X10.50X16" or so...

No big ol honkin' "Big Country" sh*t, just high enough for me to use the step bars instead of sliding off the driver's seat I had to repair for this very problem.

You should gain a bit more torque on top of the long tubes with the slightly more restrictive exhaust. Sucks state inspection won't let you run dual exhaust. I do like the fact they tuck up under the truck.

In commie California I found a loophole to avoid running cats on my 77 F150 and pollute the air with leaded fuel. Vehicles with a  gross vehicle weight over 6,000 pounds don't need to run cats. Of course the truck just squeaks under the allowable limit and they ping me with a gross polluter tax, a price to pay for some good fun.
