I thought 500's were R/T's, guess not!

They started life as R/T's, but had the standard "arrow" emblem at the rear with the 500 emblem at the right corner.

So they still have the R/T drivetrain and suspension and such, just not the emblems?  Any particular reason why it was done that way?

Yes, because it was not an R/T :Twocents:

Or,   is it an RT with a conversion package

It's not an R/T, does not have an R/T VIN or badges, etc. Heck, they probably would not have built the car, if only the Daytona could have been built sooner...

Ghoste

Ah, but what about the early ones that DID have an RT vin

Then I'd say they pulled cars from the line, or from a pool of cars already built, converting them to C500s. Maybe an an engineering validation exercise? Today, they would build an "XP" (as in experimental, not like an XP29.... tag) VIN car for pilot cars. Back then, pilot cars wore regular VINs :Twocents:

In the notion of rarity, yea its worth 10k. But only to those chasing a 500. And Im guessing most of those guys are smart enough to start with something better. So in reality no its not worth 10k... for it to be worth that another has to be ready to hand over the pile of $$$.

Thats basically right.  They pulled RT`s from the line to have converted at Creative and they were pulled in batches.  The earliest cars still had the regular RT vin up on the dash but as the program got going they got the XX tags out onto the assembly line floor for them.

Hey!!  Maybe there really is a c500 with R/T badges then!   :icon_smile_big:
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

Going to have to correct this. The early 500's are XX on the dash. The only thing is they are also XS on the fender tags. Until November then they are XX everywhere. Now there is a handful of exceptions that are XS on the dash too but they are exceptions and are not in a batch just single mistakes scattered throughout the entire run.

My bad Danny, I was thinking it was the other way around and the fender tags had the correct XX.  Thanks.
