I just picked up a 69 charger that is in need of a complete resto job. Here is what I know of so far. It has its original numbers matching 383 and 727. It was not an R/T. It came with Bronze Met. and Tan interior, now has black interior.
Car came all apart, but almost everthing is there (in Boxes) I received both brand new floor pans and truck pans. All of the sheet metal is there. I also got a rebuilt 440 and 727 from my body guy who found the car for a winch.
The 69 Grille does need some parts, I am going to ask on here if anyone has parts. The car also came with a complete working no cracks 68 front grille. I might sell it or chop it up to fix the 69 grill.
I will be about a year before we finish it, so I will have plenty of time to work on it.
If anyone has parts to sell for the 69 please let me know.
I do have a really nice 69 GTX that I had restored 2 years ago and I love it, but I have always loved Chargers. My next door neighbor had a Daytona with a 426 hemi back in the day and I always worked on it when I was slave labor for him. Still have apicture of it. It has been stolen 2 times about 30 years ago.
All help is welcomed!

In that kind of shape, I hope you got a good deal.

What's cool about it is you can build it any way you want and not have to worry about it being #'s matching R/T. You should see if maybe you can trade the 68 grill for a 69.

Welcome to the forum! Don't let the task of restoring your car overwhelm you. One job at a time, finish one task completely and move on to the next. I urge you to avoid having several tasks going at once........they never seem to get finished. Finally, please don't chop up the 68 grille. Sell it for a better 69 grille or parts money.  :Twocents:

I paid $1500 for it. The brand new sheet metal is worth that alone and with a matching numbers engine and trans, I think I an ahead of the game. I have a really GOOD body guy and he is VERY reasonable with me. He did my GTX for half the cost as the other people and it turned out better than most I have seen that paid more.
I was thinking of selling the 68 grill if I can find a 69...any one have one?

moparcharger

TWODKO, I was thinking of painting it the color on your car, looks rear nice!

Just how good is the 68 grill, any cracks at all, anywhere. Have you figured what you would sell it for out right. I have a 68 XP car that I am putting a 2001 Gen2 Viper motor in. The grill that came with the car was really bad.

moparcharger

The grille has no cracks at all and works fine. I have not put a price on it yet.

A perfect 68 grill is almost worth what you paid for the car. Please do not chop it up. That would be bad Mopar juju.

Thanks man. The color code is Q5.
I would love to have that GTX.

Yes, it is better if you can get a '69 grille. I cut up a '68 and it was a PITA to swap everything over. Hood latch in different sapot, etc.

The bronze and tan would be a nice combination but I totally get wanting to do the same color as twodko, that is great color on the 2nd gens.

If you do decide to sell the grill can you please let me know as long as you haven't promised it to someone else. Thanks.
