My 68 Charger....Finally starting!!!

Ok...I will try to post this again.  I have been a member here for a little over a year when I bought my 68 charger.  I have not posted in a while since I really didn't have anything to share but I have been on here reading all of the post others have placed.  I have not done anything with my charger since I bought it and it just sat in my back yard.  A rodent decided that it would make a great "Mouse Pad" but I had to disagree.  I evicted the little turd and put my charger in the garage where it belonged.  There is sat for a long time because I had to move a bunch of stuff into the garage and it blocked any space I had to work on it.  Well,  finally got off my lazy Azz and reorganized the garage to where I had some room to work on it.  Yay!!  So this pick is how it sat before all the junk got moved in.  I wish it looked like this today....

So last week I officially started working on the car.  I started with striping the interior and will bring it to a shell for media blasting.  This will not be a 6mos project...I wish!!  But, it is started! :icon_smile_big:

Looks like you have a nice project.  You better get some more storage space :2thumbs:  You'll be glad you did

My plans are to make it a solid driver.  I really like what some others on this site have done and am going to use some of the ideas they have...5.7 or 6.1 hemi...XV Frame stiffening kit...Upgraded suspension....then the color.

I bought it from a friend of a friend...The guy was kinda in some money troubles and his only out was to sell the car.  I really didn't have the money at the time so we agreed he would accept payments from me.  We both benefited from this as he was paying rent with the money I was giving him.  When I made the last payment he gave me the title.  It is kinda sad really cause the car has been in his family for most of its life.  The pic is the condition of the car when I took possesion of it. It had no grille at the time and I paid 5k for it with a non matching 383.  The title was signed over 20 years ago so I was fearful when I took it down to the DMV to put it in my name.  They gave me a little trouble because the VIN was cut off from a fold mark in the title.  Luckily for me when the supervisor from DMV Looked at it, he noticed another VIN at the bottom of page.  He told the girl to give me a title....Yay!!  That is when I felt the car was truly mine.

Keep sending pics! I am a few weeks ahead of you on my 69' Charger SE. I am almost done with everything drivetrain, axles, interior, trim, except for the blasted undercoating! I worked 4hours today and got half of it scraped off. Good luck!

Cool story AZ, the payment thing is a bit of a risk for both parties so its good to hear it had a happy ending.

Having trouble getting pics to post from my camera.  Any hints?

Are you getting an error message?  There are some good pic posting tutorials in the site suggestions section.

If this does not work...I am done with trying to post pics from my camera.  If you make a mistake you have to totally change your post so it is not a duplicate?  I forgot what the hell I was going to say to begin with...I am so frustrated!!!
I hope there are pics this time!!

It looks solid as hell.

Yes, I was very happy to see that when I went to check the car out.  One of the reasons I made special arrangements to purchase the car.  After media blasting I will see what hides beneath.

Just scored a couple of doors for my car.  Not that my doors were bad but they did not have a lot of the mechanisms.  I paid 200.00 for both doors that have all the glass, mechanisms, and chrome.  Hopefully that was a good deal.

Great!!  That makes me feel good about them.  I asked about other parts but he did not have any.  I guess he is getting out of the mopar scene and had these left over.  Lucky me I guess.   :icon_smile_big:

Ok...so a little update...I have taken the motor and trans out of the car....This should allow me to remove the rest of the firewall stuff by myself.  I should also be able to remove the fenders and other sheet metal myself... Hopefully by the new year I will be ready for media blasting...Will post pics later but they kinda look the same.  Just no motor now..:)
