with out actually looking at it first hand

could be flatting / de nibbing marks  , in the clear coat , where the painter has attempted to flat out bits of dirt etc in the clearcoat  ,  & has not mopped it properly ,  when this happens  , one of the things that happen ,  the compound & wax fills the flatting marks , &  looks ok  for a while  , after a few washes  , it removes all the wax , &  the flatting marks show up ,  although you say two years ago it was painted , thats a long time  ,   :shruggy:

Two years is a long time, a car painter in Sweden think it's the color red that has oxidized. And somehow found its way up where someone was with her dirty fingers. You could see nothing for two months ago. But the stripes on the last image has been there all the time.

No, it is not he who painted the car, but we have tried with heavy polish and it does not go away. The paint is smooth as a mirror.

oh right
that was going to be my next suggestion , try rubbing it with a good wax or compound , see if there is any difference ,

if the clear coat is shiney & flat as you say , its deffo the base coat or under the bace coat , only way is to repaint,

Painting 101, after degreasing the car, keep your grubby fingers off of it.  This prepper/painter did not.  It's indeed oxidizing, seen it many times.  Sorry bud, only one true good way to get rid of that, sand it off, reprimer and start over.
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

He should, the proof that he screwed up is right there, doesn't get more clear than that!   :icon_smile_big:

I'll bet you a million bucks that he would simply scuff the paint and repaint right over the clear.  Don't let him, that crap needs to come off.  No sealers or any of those short cuts.  Sand through the color coat and reprimer is the only way to do it right.

I've seen people try to cover it up only to have it reappear a few weeks later.
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

do you know what , i've never seen that before , in the twenty two odd year i've been in body & paint , yeah  we all know about not touching after de greasing  , moisture from fingers causing  flash rust, & wear gloves while doing it especially with water base  ,

its  first time i've ever seen it   :yesnod:

I've seen it a couple of times, but never like this.  Usually it's a smudge or just one print, this is a bit nuts.

The funniest was a few cat paws in the paint.  When I first started out in bodywork, the owner of the shop had a cat that would walk all over the place but never got near the cars.  Apparently except this one time where the car's owner came back after we painted his car and showed cat prints under the clear on the corner of the hood and fender, I guess kitty was taking a short cut that day.

Finally, the car is painted. 275 hours has the painter put on the car. Then it will be new glass headliner carpet and much more. I have the current state spent approximately 25000usd on the renovation and it'll be more. Will post pictures as the renovation progresses. / / Anders

No it was black when it left the factory. but it has been both white and red. It was black when I bought it but it was not the best paint job. But now it's done properly.
