VERY exciting tonight, after 5 years I finally heard my engine actually start tonight!  :2thumbs:

However.......the 440 engine is bored 55 over, forged wiseco pistons, CH4B intake, headers, adj steel rocker assembly, decent cam........and a 750 double pump holley
I just poured gas down the carb and the engine fired up on first try..........but I hear a loud noise like vacuum sucking through the carb it sounds like....
will a carb make this sound sucking through the power valves if bowls are dry??

First off, I don't think you'll actually "Hear" the sucking noise through the power valves from outside the carb...Most likely what you hear is the sound of air being pulled through the thottle blades at high vacuum.

Congratulations Steve. That's great news.  :2thumbs: :2thumbs: :2thumbs: :2thumbs:
I don't think you need to worry about the sound. Mine does the same thing with the air cleaner off.
