I went to the local Dodge dealer hoping to get a look a Challenger to show the wife what kind of car I will be getting into this spring.  Nothing on the lot except trucks, Jeeps and Durangos.  A few cars but no Challengers, I found a 2012 Yellow Jacket Challenger in a nearby town.  I was supprised to learn it has 10.9 compression and is able to get 23 mpg highway.

Anyway the dealer here is bringing in two Challengers, one white with standard transmission and one black with automatic.  Not my colors of choice but I could will see how the new Challenger will handle and feel.  I think I can get whichever color I want but will have to find the car on some lot in the northwest.  Does anybody on here have some knowledge on how many will be produced?

2014 is supposed to be the last year for them.  At least that's the rumor. :scratchchin:

I test drove an R/T for a better part of the afternoon. It's something I could see myself in, after I pay off my Hyundai.

I have seen earlier models here in Missoula with a V6 that are under $20k and have less than 20k miles.  I could get used to getting more than 20 miles to the gallon.  I am not sure which color I will go with, availability will probably be the major factor.  Any ideas?

Any color looks good on these, just like the 2nd gen charger.   Lime green and plum crazy are limited editions.

first off, take a ride in both the r/t and the 392, try both a 6spd and an auto, remember to manually shift the auto as part of the test drive,  Yes they do get that type of gas mileage provided you drive below 70mph,  above 70 expect closer to 22.  They are a blast to drive, and well worth the money.  The 392 is worth a little extra over an r/t, but the r/t is still a great ride and a great daily driver that you won't worry so much about putting miles on it.   Also don't rule out the yellow jacket, the brighter colored cars tend to get a bit more attention than the whites and blacks do.  Every time i take mine out i get stares, smiles, comments and thumbs up, even though i've been driving it now for 2.5 years.  I have not regretted buying a bright yellow car.

The SRT is 10 grand more than the R/T & that was just enough to make me opt for the R/T when I purchased mine 3 years ago. Today, there's plenty of lused ow mileage R/T's & SRT's out there & personally, I would go that route before going new.

I have an 09 SRT8 Challenger that has almost 12,000 miles on it.  I only drive it when it is nice out, but when I do I love it!

In 2010, the srt was only 3 to 4 grand higher than a classic r/t challenger, i drove both and decided the 6.1L srt8 just wasn't worth the difference in price, but when the 2011s with the 392 came out, i drove one of those, and would have probably paid the extra amount for it, but the test drive wasn't so awe inspiring that i had to give up the r/t classic i already had, and take a loss on the trade in.  My classic stickered at 39.6k, i paid 35 for it.  The new srt8's were 49k when i test drove one, although discounts should be readily available for them now.  I did get a call from dodge asking me to bring it in for trade yesterday, but like before i have no intention of giving up on it yet.

From what i've read, the RT with the optional track pak or super track pak make it drive close to the srt8. Either one is a fine ride though, i love the r/t i have and it gets plenty of attention when i drive it, much more so than the cobra i had before.

ill get one someday. someday when they depreciate a whole lot. or when i dont have to pay rediculious child support  :icon_smile_blackeye:   im gonna definatly take one for a test drive this spring.

oh and i love the yellow one. i have a soft spot for the yella cars  :2thumbs:

Lord Warlock

Yellow ones are tough to find.  Unless you get a yellow jacket.  The dy cars were one of the smallest production colors with only 592 rt and 595 srt8 made.  There used to only be 3 yellows in town, 2 r/t's and 1 srt8, until the YJ color was released, not sure now.  and that is in a population of 1M+.  I couldn't find one locally with the options i wanted, and bought the yellow one from a NC dealer who shipped it to my door.  Kind of tough buying a car sight unseen, but i knew what i was getting after local test drives, and mine hadn't been test driven, it was shipped with only 12 miles on it.  It was my first and only new car i've bought for myself o use in 30 years. (wife had a new one a few years back though)

Actually, any of the high impact colors is considered a limited edition, that includes B5, DY, PCP, FF, and GWE.  the b5 blue was called a spring special, Detonator Yellow came next, and was classified as a special edition color/also the spring special, plum crazy followed dy the next year, then Furious Fucia (essentially panther pink) and last was the GWE or green with envy-cross between sublime and sassygrass green.  They made each for only a single run of vehicles for about six weeks, then sold them till they were gone and shelved the color, saying they wouldn't make any more...needless to say they've renegged on that when they came out with stinger yellow which is almost identical to the DY color, and rumors indicate that plum crazy may be available again in the future.

Course I'm partial to yellow also, even if cream is a washed out yellow.

There is a company that does convertible conversions and while it looks nice with the top down...........

..........it's fugly as hell with the top up.

Mr. Norm was doing those for a while.  I believe he has quit making them though.  They're not listed on his site anymore.

factory vert would just cost me money cause I would have to have one!

that top looks like they forgot to put one of the bows in.  I've seen cleaner looking tops on vert challengers, but the price they charge for the conversion is prohibitive to say the least.  It is a shame that dodge didn't make them originally, the style of the car suits a vert model, but have to consider demand and return on investment, it would be hard to sell units that cost 50k for an r/t vert, or 65k for an srt8.  I suppose there are some that would pay that much but there aren't that many in the mainstream.

Those non factory kits start at about 30k and that does not include your 40k car.  I would hope the factory would offer one for far less than 70k

We have a new Challenger on the spring list, Wife needs a new car! R/T or ST8, depends on availibility.I have a few dealers as customers, and I have been bugging them since October. The first 2013's I saw were state side, about two weeks ago. The big question is colours, not much to choose from. Two factors here, one, Japan's earthquake sunomi, took out one of the main manufacturers, of paint pigment. Still do not know if that's resolved. And the Brampton plant, had a very small paint facility, that has been under construction for a while, something like doubling up on paint tanks, 8 tanks when the plant was built, 8 colours across three lines, meant limited high impact colours. Living in Ontario, I get a chance to run hyway 410, and it is a common site to see haulers full of new 300's and Chalengers on a common basis, trailers are full of Red White Silver and Black cars.

My wife loved the Challenger vert as long as the top was down. In 2009 she sat in this one at the Mopar Nats and really wanted us to get one. We decided to wait a couple of years to see if Dodge would build one....

Well that never happened so we picked up a nice SRT last summer and its a great car for us. I don't think its a high impact color, but its sure gets lots of attention.
