I saw that add also. Im surprised that the local building inspector has not fined the owner, or condemned the building with all that weight on the roof.

69charger2002

it just got put on the roof! i sold him that car probably 3-4 weeks ago.  :nana:

Idiot is not a strong enough word.  Any other better words? :shruggy: :shruggy: :shruggy:

What does the car weigh like it sits with no engine or tranny? It looks like the interior is out of it too. I doubt it will weigh over 2500 which puts the weight at 625 pounds per tire which is the weight of two big men... Those posts are going to hold a lot more than you think.

I think its funny.  Better than seeing another of those blowup dancing Li'l Caesars or giant monkeys.

Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups.  Especially if they have access to the internet.

Ghoste

I think the only point is to make you look at whatever business its parked on top of.  Nothing more nothing less and I imagine it works pretty well.

...maybe I should (buy it and) put it on top of my house  :scratchchin:

HOA would probably not be amused....

I've never seen it, but we sold one of the totalled out stunt cars wrecked in the freeway jump from the movie a few years back.  As I understood it, it was also going to be used as an ad on a building or pole or something like that.  I think the business was a scrapyard somewhere around Toronto but I'm not sure about that.

nvrbdn

i was thinking they either sell or repair muscle cars since in the one pic you see a mustang and another car under the porch of the building next to it.

nice heavy chains to hold it to the roof. i'd imagine in a strong wind, the porch roof will lift off, complete with general lee.  :rotz:

Mike DC

I don't see how that porch roof would be any more likely to lift off than it was before the car was bolted to it.  If anything an extra 2500 pounds should help hold it down.

I still don't see how the car on the roof would do anything but help hold it down.

weird. i owned one of the 2 freeway jump cars right after filming completed for the movie. it has changed hands 2-3 times since then. probably the same car..

Looks like it could be Travis, was it the one they used to set the jump up but it off course and piled into the concrete barrier?  You don't actually see it in the movie but they show it in the extras on the dvd?

69charger2002

mine broke something when it hit the ground.. it immediately darted right and hit the guardrail doing the major right fender damage. The other car actually landed right and slammed into the concrete center barricade on the left side of the highway. That car belonged to the guy in Kansas i believe it was. He sent 2 cars down for them to use, one got freeway jumped, the other general see sat in the back of their lot and never had a finger laid on it. I watched both of those freeway jumps they were pretty awesome to watch in person. They shut down the interstate in downtown BAton rouge and cable pulled the cars with hydraulics. It was nuts.

It is the same car then.  At some point after you it ended up in the Whitworth collection being shown at the Peterson Museum in LA.  From there it came to Canada and was to become a billboard north of Toronto last I heard.

69charger2002

thats pretty wild. I sold it to Volo auto museum who quickly made a huge profit and sold it to a collector out west wanting to show it in a museum, has to be the one in LA you're talking about .. I did read in hot rod magazine where a collection of cars were at auction, this one was included... It sold for less than i originally sold it for that time around. I did see a youtube video of this car not long ago. A group of people played a joke on the buyer i guess, and when he drives up the general lee is sitting on it's roof and everyone laughs as he walks around it.. Same car.. Is that the guy that now has it in Canada? Amazing what all a car can do and where it can go in 7 years.

The video you saw was from where I work.  Convoluted story but basically it went from LA to here where it was stored briefly for a dealer who sent it on to another auction in Toronto and was sold there to the party with which I last saw it.

69charger2002

any idea how much it sold for the last time it changed hands? just curious.  Money wise that car has been on an extreme roler coaster ride
