These idiots think Prius is going to be collectible  :rotz:
along with some other crappy cars like Neon

If he can't find a neon for sale, he's looking in the middle of nowhere with his eyes closed.  The only cars on that list that will be collectible is the Hummer and maybe the Magnum.  Everything else I'd pay to watch go through the shredder

1970Moparmann

Aztec?

Hummer H2?

Cadilac?

Every car in the list makes no sense.......
My name is Mike and I'm a Moparholic!

I can see the Pontiac G8 or the GTO, maybe a SRT Jeep. . . . maybe.

The Magnum, I really do not see it. I attend the auctions weekly, many do not sell as you hear most dealers say "Nothing from Chrysler".  And the ones which do sell, bring next to nothing. Nice looking Magnums for $5000.00 or a bit less, add in the Hemi for not much more.

yahoo is surely an authority on cars..all there articles are a joke

JB400

It isn't just Yahoo.  They get their material from Popular Mechanics.  I don't even bother reading it.

Aero426

What a horrible article.    If that is the collector landscape, it's bleak indeed.    So many cars they missed.

I actually could see some people wanting an old Prius.   It happened with the GM EV-1 folks upset they could not keep the cars.    The article does not address that the deal breaker on the Prius will be the cost to keep it on the road long term.   Actually the component and repair costs on all these new cars will play a role.   Just like a flat screen TV, they are appliances.

The H2?   Yeah, I could see it.  Same with the Hemi Magnum wagon.   The xB is weird enough to have a niche.   It would be a LONG road to buy one of these and make money.

Only if it's SRT8 Magnum, regular Magnums could be used for parts cars.

Have any of their automotive lists EVER made sense?

hawkeye

i always thought they built the aztec so the pacer wouldn't be the ugliest car ever built.  these people probably thought that beanie babies were very collectible too

Standard mistaken assumption:  What adults want today, and preserve for tomorrow, will be most collectible decades later.

Truth:  What teenagers want today, and throw away tomorrow, will be most collectible decades later.

What, you guys don't have space set aside in the garage for the Aztec resto? :shruggy: Bodywork would be as easy as a VW Thing. Custom wheels and tires off of a golfcart. :2thumbs:
Maybe I'm biased but I don't see the H2 having the same following as a Jeep Wrangler.
So, since Yahoo and everyone else got it wrong, what car from this era would you set aside for your kid or grandchild to have years from now?
'69 Charger / '69 Dart convertible/ '74 Cuda

mitsubishi 3000 gt vr4 or the dodge stealth r/t with the twin turbos

R/Ts and SRT8s are the desirable ones here and still go for good money. SEs and SXTs not so much

I hate to say it, but the Toyota Supra will probably be collectible.  Especially with the gen x and y group

Dodge Magnum now i like that wagon i wish we got them in OZ i would get rid of my Volvo 960 wagon for one of those.
Prius will be rare because all will be recycled collectable no, who would want one in 30 years time.

Exactly.  The Supra Turbo from the 1990s will be the new classic Corvette.

Some of the IROC Camaro's as well as the "G" body I think they are called (1978-81 Malibu), and Monte Carlo SS from the late 80's are hot.

I would  guess that the exotic supercars like McLaren F1's and Adventadors or Ferrari's are a given.

kinda odd but the early 90s ss 454 pickups seem to hold value. Also for the longest time mid 90s impala ss were expensive as hell. Not sure if this means there collectable tho

Seems like those Impalas SS's are always higher than heck.  Roadmasters are a little cheaper, but not by much.

if we're going all the way back to the 80-90's then the GN and GNX, ZR1, original 5.0 Mustang (although they have probably been hacked to an inch of their lives by now)
