I need one.
I found one at a junk yard.
I want to know what do I need to do to remove it. It is sitting in a 72 challenger.
Do I need to remove the whole dash, steering column? The seats are allready gone.
Also so as not to add another post. How do I remove  the heater box?
Thanks

Is easier from the dashframe removed from car. You only need drop the column, unplugg everywhere is to brackets, kickpanels, bulkhead conector, and also unbolt bulkhead conector from firewall.

Heaterbox. Remove glovebox liner, unbolt the firewall nuts on engine bay and a to brace down the dash frame up to cowl area ( this will be last one to remove ). You don't really need to unbolt the blower since it is directly attached to box, but better if you do

About how long will it take to remove the wiring harness? I have seen posts telling a 4 to 8 hour period installing, but what about removing?

I also didn't quite understand. Should I try removing the dash frame? Or do I just drop the column and pull the instrument cluster put?

Nacho-RT74

If you know how is installed the dash frame you can pull it out in one hour or less. If don't, then I think one and a half hours or a little bit more...

4 HOURS TO INSTALL IT ? that's is too much... I think same time on both procedures. I did take 30 minutes to remove and install mine.

Is a lot easier and a cleaner job making it with dash frame out of the car. will fit and run wires better and will be more comfortably. You don't need to remove glove box, ashtray etc... just remove the complete assembly from the car and making it plenty of space with a complete view of the dash frame back side view over a table or floor itself.

What I don't know is if on E bodies you need to remove windshield before remove dash frame ??? If so, then would it be your choice making it with dash frame in the car or out.

71 and laters B bodies don't need to remove windshield.

How many bolts am I looking for to remove the dash frame?

AmadeusCharger500

I find two at the top inside the defrost vents and two down near the kick panels.
Are there any more?
Thanks

Can I please add that you disconnect the battery first for either job. You don't want to fry anything.
