Yes it is cell service.

The worst part is if you can get it to work the download limit per month is 6 GB. Then you pay more.

However while I was looking for stuff to help you I discovered verizon has a new service called Homefusion.

I have to go to work so I didnt spend much time looking at it.  But in my quick overview it looks like its LTE for the
house with a higher monthy bandwidth cap. Which it AWESOME!  Do a google search for it.

You have verizon with one bar?  I wouldnt call that good.....  but at least there is hope.

Signal boosters are kinda crap.  Because they amplify noise as well.  Its better to start with a good antenna.
My thought is if you have one bar you should be able to get it up to 3 or 4 with a good antenna and some persistence.

And yes it could be arranged so the whole house has wifi and more than one person on at a time.

Sweet!  Thanks for all the help man, I really appreciate it.  I don't have Verizon anymore but I do believe when we did have that it was only one bar as well.  Now the cell phone does work fine in the house, never had a dropped call, yet only one bar.  I'm going to look into that homefusion thing.

Thanks again !   :2thumbs:

If you PM me your address or someplace pretty close to you that I can easily find on a map ....  I will see what I can find for options in your area.

Have to go to work now.

I spent a bunch of time on the Home Fusion broadband. Be careful because if you bundle it with a cell contract the data plan gets charged under the cell rates which are more expensive than the HF rates.

Also, don't trust the pic of the device. It currently doesn't support a voice line, unless you were to push VOIP on your own. Meaning it doesn't support Home Phone Connect (A Verizon thing).

Have you tried provide.net?  They are local to your area. They might not service your area, but they might have some options.

I did some research in your area.

Verizon claims 4G service at your home location.
And there is a tower less than 3 miles from your house that looks to be Verizon rented.

Tower Characteristics
Registration #:   1019590

Anywho.........

My next step would be to find somebody I knew with an LTE Jetpack or at the very least a Verizon phone with a data plan and borrow it and see what signal strength I got.  Or go to the Verizon store and con them into letting you borrow a jetpack for a few hours.  Prolly with some fancy talking and $200 or $300 or so dollars in cash as a deposit they would let ya do it.

If you manage to get ANY sorta 4G/LTE  signal I would be stoked and start shopping for antennas, then possibly an amp.

If all you get is the "extended" network or 3G ......   I would restart the process with a clearwire device.
I had clear for a bit and the speeds sucked.  Basically clears 4G was barely faster than Verizon's 3G..... Sometimes.
The upshot is that it's cheaper than Verizons and there isn't a data cap.   The down side is the tech support is stupid, the sales/accounting department is inept and the download speeds can be underwhelming. But hey it's still faster than dial-up!

I've looked into Verizon's Homefusion and will be talking to a rep tomorrow.  Seems this may work for us so I'll keep you posted.   :2thumbs:

studying can do that to you.  :icon_smile_big:

When I was a kid, my father used to say to me..............leave the studying to the horse, it's got a bigger head. I've never had a headache since.

I grew up observant so a lot of my learning was from watching and duplicating.  Nothing wrong with a good book either.
