Hi guys looking for some measurements for the rear stripe on a 70 charger.
My non R/T is going in for paint next week and I'm looking to paint on a R/T (bumble bee) stripe.
So what I need from someone is width and spacing of the 2 small strips and the main middle stripe.
The car is a non-vinyl top car so I would like to brake up the plumb crazy paint a bit.

Thanks Dan.

Oh ya I,ll post pic. when it's painted :)

Best to  get a stripe from'' phoenix graphics'',good quality and easy instructions   :2thumbs: DIY

Ghoste

You don't think he should paint it on?

I used one from Phoenix Graphics and it turned out beautifully.  Watchout for those air bubbles.  If you decide to go the decal route, make sure you order the install soap solution that they sell.

Thanks guys on the decal info. but I've already bought the paint to do the stripe and hood black out treatment. I know I can buy the decal but the car is going to be a base/clear and the money and time it will take to do a decal I can do in black paint before its cleared.
This car has lots of little issues and is in no way a full blown show car. I plan on driving as a daily driver about 8 months out of the year so correctness of having the stripe be a decal is not important, however I would like the painted stripe to be as close as possable this is why I'm asking for the measurements from an original stripe.

Thanks
Dan

I can measure mine tonight, it's a 69 but should be the same width.  Are you going to paint it exactly like the stripe with the two thin lines and the v shape on the trunk?
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

dan6412

Yes I would like to get "V" in the trunk lid. If you can get the measurements that would be awsome!

Thanks Dan

I went and looked but could not find the info.

Hi, Here are some from what looks to be an original stripe.  I can measure mine if needed, but it is not original.  There is only so much room for error with a decal, lining it up with side markers.  But, if I were painting it on, I would want make sure I had accurate measurements.  I would definitely do it with the correct v shape, if left straight, it looks a little off IMO.

I assume purple.

Stripe looks real good :2thumbs:

Ghoste

Yes, I was looking for a little more specific though.

JB400

Purple is purple, but I'll put my money on Plum Crazy.

dan6412

It is Plum Crazy. The lights and camera make it look off in the picture.

I thought you said the car was a '70?  Looks like a '69 quarter to me.....  :scratchchin:

Monitors can alter it from the other end too.  On mine it almost looks like a cross between mauve and plum crazy somehow.  It very much appears to be a custom shade over here.  :icon_smile_big:

Was wondering how long till someone pointed that out. They are aftermarket 1/4's bought and installed back when you could only get 68 or 69 panels because they ( the ones that sold them before yearone) said the 69-70 1/4's where the same. The rust was all the way into the marker light flange and couldnt find and any at the time to graft in. Like I said it's a driver was a green on green 318 auto car with 500 trim. Now sporting a 440, auto, black interior and new purpl paint ;)

Ghoste

So are you planning to use the correct style 70 marker lights?

Dino

Apart from the chrome bezel, what's the difference in side markers between the two?  Is the 70 style longer?

Ghoste

I think the pocket is recessed a little deeper as well.  The 70 is a lighted marker as opposed to the plain reflector in the 69.

I thought it was punched out?

Nice looking paint. Any of the rest of the car?
